A legislative proposal that will have Illinois automatically adopt California's strict emission standards is scheduled for a hearing in Springfield on Tuesday. HB 1634, sponsored by Rep. Edgar Gonzalez (D-Chicago), is scheduled to be heard in the House Energy & Environment Committee.
HB 1634 would force the Illinois EPA to implement California's emission standards, including Advanced Clean Truck and heavy-duty low NOx. It would also mean that Illinois would automatically adopt any future changes made by the California Air Resource Board (CARB).
The Illinois Trucking Association is leading a coalition of trucking companies and organizations that are opposed to HB 1634.
We encourage everyone to let their voice be heard and to file a witness slip in opposition to HB 1634.
