Presidential Address
by Lynne Roussel, P.E.
Thanks to our members who attended our awards lunch on Feb. 19th at Ruffino's. We had a great turnout to celebrate the accomplishments of our well deserving award winners.

The "Evening Under the Stars to Celebrate the Engineering Profession" turned out to be a great event. We are already planning for next year! Thanks to everyone who attended the joint event with ASCE, WTS and LES.

We announced during E-Week our upcoming STEM Grant Program for K-12 schools. You will see more information about this in the coming weeks.

At our March lunch meeting, we honored all of our past LES Baton Rouge Chapter Presidents. Dr. Tommy Karam from LSU Department of Marketing was our speaker. Several people told us how much they enjoyed Dr. Karam's talk about personal branding.

Coming up in April, we have two opportunities to enjoy the outdoors in the spring. Our Annual William A. Wintz Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament is set for April 12th at the Santa Maria Golf Course. This tournament is always has a great turnout and this event funds the scholarships awarded to very deserving students of the LSU and SU engineering program. Please register as soon as you can as it fills up fast! More information below.

This years we decided to host our annual crawfish boil with an ethics PDH at Creole Cabana. The event will take place on April 26 h - so come enjoy some crawfish and cold beverages! Sign up below.

These are events you don’t want to miss. As always, if you know or work with someone who is not a LES member, please consider inviting them to join you at a meeting or event. We look forward to seeing you around!

Director Positon Opening on the Board
The LES-Baton Rouge Chapter is in the process of preparing the Board Member ballot for the 2019-2020 LES Calendar year. We are looking for additional people who want to volunteer their time and be a part of the board.

A great and recommended position when newly starting on the board is the Director position. A Director primarily assists the other board members (i.e. President, Vice-President, Treasurer) in their duties.

A Director gets exposure to all the various roles of the board that tend to require more volunteer time. This is useful when deciding if they want to progress through the ranks in the future.

Deadline to nominate someone to be on the initial ballot is 6 pm Wednesday 4/17.
