The Baton Rouge Chapter is thrilled to kick off another year as we endure the hot summer days and patiently await the cooler breeze of fall. I’m humbled and honored to serve as the incoming 2017/2018 President of the LES Baton Rouge Chapter. Together with the strong leadership of our Board of Directors, we are working on our agenda for the upcoming year and are planning many exciting events.
The new Board consists of:
Lynne Roussel, P.E. – President Elect
Kevin Beyer, P.E. – Vice President
Greg Trahan, P.E. – Secretary/Treasurer
Andy Shread, P.E. – Director
Kimberly McDaniel, P.E. – Director
Shaun Sherrow, P.E. – Past President
Thanks to every one of you that helped make last year another success for the Baton Rouge Chapter:
- To our corporate sponsors, who fund our operations and also allow multiple scholarships to be awarded to LSU and SU students in their engineering programs.
- To our Board of Directors, volunteers and committee members, who help organize and set up our events.
- And last but not least, to you, our membership who makes the Baton Rouge Chapter a great Society to be part of.
We have numerous exciting events lined up that we encourage all of our members to participate. Some of the highlights include the LSU/SU Student Function, our Annual Wintz Scholarship Golf Tournament, the Annual Clay Tournament, the MathCounts competition, our Annual Engineering Week Banquet, as well as our general meetings. Detailed information about all of our events will be emailed to the membership and published on our Facebook account (Louisiana Engineering Society - Baton Rouge Chapter) and our Chapter’s website (
http://www.les-state.org/brchapter/) Don’t forget to check it out!
Recently, we sent out a survey to our members, and we greatly appreciate all of the helpful feedback we received. Your input is very important for us and it will help us improve your membership experience with the Chapter. We are always open to new ideas, so please do not hesitate to contact me at
cherrera@hargrove-epc.com for suggestions.
For our first general meeting, we are honored to have Congressman Garret Graves, representing the 6
th District of Louisiana, speak at our joint luncheon with ASCE tomorrow.
We encourage all members to not only take advantage of the program of events we offer but also to become active in the Chapter as we continue our efforts to advocate for the engineering profession.
If you know or work with someone who is not a LES member, please consider inviting them to join you at a meeting or other event. We look forward to seeing you around!
