The Baton Rouge Chapter wrapped up 2018 with our December lunch meeting with Dr. Shawn Wilson. He gave a DOTD update to our members. Everyone enjoyed the meeting and the Christmas atmosphere.
For 2019, the Baton Rouge Chapter Board decided to focus on a New Year’s resolution. I am sure most of us have already broken our personal resolutions. This year our Board wants to focus on educating our youth about Engineering and the importance of our profession. We will be announcing new activities during February as we celebrate Engineer’s Week.
We would like to congratulate our award winners from the Baton Rouge Chapter:
Leo Odom Award for Service to the Profession – Ms. Janice Williams, PE
Andrew Lockett Medal for Civic Activities – Mr. Kevin Beyer, PE
F. Hugh Coughlin Young Engineer Award – Ms. Lauren Blaik, PE
Charles M. Kerr Public Relations Award – Mr. Jay Hardman, PE
Ms. Janice Williams also received the LES State Leo Odom Award. Each of these individuals are well deserving of the awards and promote the engineering profession.
We will honor our award recipients at our February Luncheon on Feb. 19th at Ruffino's. During this lunch meeting, we will also present checks to the four students who were selected for the Wintz Scholarship.
Join us on Thursday, Feb. 21 for an "Evening Under the Stars to Celebration the Engineering Profession". LES BR has teamed up with WTS and ASCE BR to bring you a cocktail event to celebrate our profession. We will have lots of food, open bar, and music.
