Dear Lovejoy Families,

Welcome to February! We have had a fantastic week of learning. We would like to thank the PTA for sponsoring Elise McVeigh in her presentation of  " Getting your Child to Become a Better Communicator". Here are some key points from her presentation.
  • It is hard to be the parent that goes against the grain.
  • It is important to have some quiet time with your child each day where you carry on conversations without any electronics. A great place to make this happen is in the car.
  • Brainstorm with your child different topics that they can use during "small talk" situations.
  • Help your child sound confident by having them stand up straight, make eye contact, and use the appropriate tone of voice for the situation.
  • Be intentional about role playing different scenarios with your child to help them become a better communicator, and during the role play, make sure it is a give and take situation and not all about the child.
This is a great reminder that we have to be intentional and purposeful regarding everyday skills that help all be successful in life.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

All My Best,
Wendy Craft
