Autism is a complex developmental disorder, affecting 1 in 68 people. It can affect a person's ability to communicate, learn, interact with others, and reason. It can also affect speech and motor skills. April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day. On Monday,

We have our annual UIL Competition this upcoming Monday, April 2nd and Friday, April 6th. The writing and spelling events take place on Monday, and the remainder of the events will take place on Friday. If your child is participating and you have any questions, please call the Lovejoy Elementary front office at 469.742.8100.
NEW! STAAR Dates - Mark your Calendar
Our 4th graders will be taking the Writing STAAR test on Tuesday, April 10th, and our 3rd and 4th graders will be taking the STAAR Math test on Monday May 14th and the STAAR Reading test on Tuesday, May 15th. On these dates, we are asking all parents to help us by sending 2 snacks with their child and by having them keep all electronics, including cell phones, fitbits, or apple watches, at home. Please also refrain from scheduling doctor or dentist appointments on these dates. Thank you in ad

No Volunteers or Lunch Guests
Due to STAAR testing, we will not have any volunteers or lunch guests for any grade level on April 10th, May 14th, or May 15th. Thank you in advance for your support.
Bike Rodeo Rescheduled
Our bike rodeo will be on Wednesday, April 18th. This is an early release date. Students will attend during the times listed below. We will send more information out the closer we get to our event.

Lovejoy Elementary Choir
The Lovejoy Elementary Choir will be singing the National Anthem at the Little Leopard Night Baseball Game at 7:25 pm on Friday, April 6th. Please have your student wear their Choir shirt and jeans. Each student will get in free to the game, but parents must pay for admission.
Please join us for Leopard Live on Friday, April 6th at 8:00am in the gym. This is a great time to recognize students who show Leopard Pride. We hope to see you there!

NEW! 3rd Grade Music Program
Please join us on Thursday, April 5th for the 3rd Grade Music Program. This year we will be demonstrating folk dances we have been practicing throughout the year. Bring your dancing shoes, as we will be inviting members of the audience to learn a dance! Our performance will begin at 6:30 pm. Students will report to the music room at 6:15 pm. Dress is red school wide shirt and dark pants/jeans.

Lovejoy Baseball: Little Leopard Night
Please join us on April 6th at 7:00 pm for the Lovejoy Baseball game. All elementary students attending will receive free admission and have the opportunity to join the Varsity players on the field for the National Anthem. Please arrive at 7:00! NEW DATE! LHS Softball Presents Future Leopard Night: April 13th
The Lady Leopards Softball Team will host Future Leopard Night on Friday, April 13th. The team will play Wylie East with a 5:00 PM start for JV and a 7:00 PM start for Varsity. Planned activities include a candy raffle during both games, joining the varsity players on the field for the National Anthem, a keepsake varsity poster for all elementary students, an autograph session following the varsity game, and other surprises. Bring your softballs to have them signed by players before and after the games. Admission will be free for all elementary students. Help the team fill the stands and cheer the Lady Leopards on to victory.

Gifted and Talented Referrals for 2018-2019
The referral window for gifted and
talented services opens February 1st for students in grades 1-12. The window will remain open through March 31, 2018.

Lovejoy ISD Pre-Kindergarten
Lovejoy ISD is accepting applications for tuition-based Pre-Kindergarten. This comprehensive program will be staffed by credentialed teachers and housed on the Puster Elementary School campus. Town of Fairview Art Show: Call for Artist Entries
The 2018 Fairview Art Show will be held April 28th and 29th in Fairview Town Center. The show will be open for public viewing from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM both days, with an artist reception and award show on Sunday.
Artwork will be judged by a featured juror and will include the following categories: adult artwork, adult photography, student photography, and four student artwork divisions (Early Elementary, Intermediate, Middle, and High School). The show will feature medals and cash prizes up to $2,000.

BYOP® (Volleyball Spring Session):
Pre-Registration Ends March 30th
BYOP® Program Overview
: This training program is designed for any volleyball player, no matter what skill or ability level, as long as their goal is to become the best they can be. Parents must be fully dedicated to being actively involved in this program. BYOP® will provide excellent volleyball fundamental skills training, as well as life lessons to both player and parent.

: Each training session will build upon a solid foundation of all fundamental skills needed to participate in the sport of volleyball. Parents must be engaged in every training session and involved in the home training program involving physical and skills activities.

Relay for Life is an annual event wh
ich will be held at Willow Springs Middle School to raise awareness of cancer and to donate to cancer research. This year's initiative is to bring the Lovejoy community together as a whole to promote a sense of unity and caring. We hope you will save the date of April 6th and join us for Relay for Life.
Elementary Hour is an event to help raise money and awareness for cancer. Elementary Hour will be held at Willow Springs Middle School on April 6th from

Relay for Life Gallery Wall Opportunity
To encourage participation of students at the elementary and intermediate school levels, the LHS Relay for Life organizers are hosting a coloring page activity. Students may
to print the coloring page and decorate it as creatively as they can. They may then turn the page into the receptionist desk at their campus to receive a pencil, sticker or other prize. The event organizers will use all coloring pages to create a gallery wall for the event, which will represent loving support for those whose lives have been affected by cancer.
Relay for Life Luminarias
Relay for Life is selling Luminarias for the Relay for Life event on April 6th at Willow Springs Middle School. Luminarias honor those whose lives have been affected by cancer. You may dedicate a Luminari to loved ones who lost their battles with cancer, someone currently battling cancer, or anyone who has overcome cancer. When you attend the Relay event, you will see the Luminarias placed around the track, decorated with names and sometimes messages to whom they are dedicated. Luminarias are $10.
