PTA Reflections
Heroes don't always wear capes! The National PTA Reflections program encourages students of all ages and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. Through the program, National PTA, Lovejoy Local and Council PTAs, and PTAs across the country urge students in preschool through grade 12 to create and submit original works. This year's contest theme is "Heroes Around Me".  We hope all Leopards will submit an entry in one or more of the following categories: Dance Choreography, Literature, Film Production, Photography, Visual Arts, and Music Composition - reflecting on the specific theme. There is a special artist division option for students with disabilities to ensure all students have the opportunity to participate in the program. Students are recognized each year for their artistic ingenuity to bring the theme to life in a way that is personal and meaningful. The deadline is Friday, November 2nd.  Please contact Brooke Benefield at bbrasher@rocketmail.com for questions.

DUE TODAY! Talent Show: The Healthy Selfie Showcase!
It's time to start thinking of planning and preparing for Lovejoy's annual talent show! This year we are excited to showcase our students' talents as a culmination of our Red Ribbon Week celebration on Thursday, October 25. Since we know that in order to master a talent or skill, you need a healthy, drug free mind and body, we can't think of a better way to end the week than to show what our students can do when they commit to living a healthy drug free life! Our theme for Red Ribbon Week is, "I Love My Drug Free Selfie!" and to go along with that theme, our talent show will be called the "Healthy Selfie Showcase!" We are requesting that all acts relate to or align with that theme and demonstrate how students' "healthy selfies" allow them to perform special talents and skills at their highest level. Talent Show registration will be completed online this year.
Please click here to access the Talent Show rules and guidelines.  The online registration form can be found here .  Music may be emailed to Wendy Hebert or submitted to this Google Drive .   We can't wait to see what incredible talents our little leopards bring to our Healthy Selfie Showcase!

Zachary Taylor, a senior at Lovejoy High School, thanks the Lovejoy community for their support of his Senior Project:
"Hello! I would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who bought a ribbon or two at Leopard Friday and to those who donated online for the Autism Walk this past weekend.  We had a great turnout and the weather was perfect during the walk. We finished just in time before the rain started to come down on us. Not only did I meet my goal of raising $500 toward the walk, the donation total was over $700. If you would still like to donate, the deadline is October 29. The combined donations from the ribbons sale and the walk was over $850.  We had a fun time walking for such a great cause. Thank you everyone for your love and support of Autism Awareness!

Tutoring 101
Lovejoy ISD is pleased to welcome Tutoring 101 to the Circle of Partners. Tutoring 101 and Lovejoy ISD have formed a revenue generating/sharing partnership to bring their services to Lovejoy families. Please see below for several offerings.
Private tutoring is available for students in grades K-12 in all subjects. Tutoring 101 recommends once a week tutoring for an hour to increase grades and learn subject matter more deeply. A once a week appointment usually results in an increase of one letter grade or more. Turn those C's into B's.
What is your SAT/ACT score? Want a better one? What do you need it to be?
Invest in a PSAT/SAT/ACT Prep program not just a class. Tutoring 101 helps high scorers get top scores, average students raise their scores and poor test takers achieve the scores colleges want. Tutoring 101 students have earned admissions and scholarships, and have saved thousands of tuition dollars every year.

Lovejoy Senior Requests Assistance with Senior Project
A message from Lovejoy Senior, Alexandra Brungardt:

"As an incoming senior, I have selected a project that is close to my heart. There is a "Toy Closet" at the Cancer Hospital from which patients can choose an item to help during their stay. I want to stock the Closet with as many toys as possible.  In order to purchase toys for the closet, donation bins will be placed at each of the schools and the red building. These bins will be collecting gently used Lovejoy Spirit Wear. Once collected, the spirit wear will be sold and the money used to buy Toys for the Closet. The toys will be donated in memory of Walker Jack Rainey. I can be reached at brungardt_alexandra@lovejoyisd.com with any comments or questions. Thank you for your generosity."
