September 6, 2018

Dear Parents,
I hope that everyone has had a fantastic week.  Due to the weather conditions, we are going to postpone me going up in the hot air balloon until Wednesday, September 12th.  Please make sure that your child arrives by 7:45 so they do not miss the launch at 8:00 a.m.I would also suggest that your child brings a towel to sit on while they are watching me go up into the sky!

As many of you know, Lovejoy ISD is working very hard to improve the safety and security of our district.  One way that we are doing this is by having a person on each campus designated to safety and security.  I would like to to introduce you to our campus security representative, Chris Smith. Mr. Smith was in the United States Army , and he operated a M1A1 Abrams tank as a crewman in all positions. During this time, he spent a year in South Korea at Camp Casey.  After serving six years in the Army, he married his wife Anna who teaches second grade at Puster Elementary.  Together, they have two amazing children Avery, a sixth grader at Sloan Creek who participates in choir and theater, and Ty, a fifth grader at Sloan Creek who enjoys football, soccer, and basketball.  In Mr. Smith's spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family at their various activities.  Mr. Smith is excited to serve our community, and he is committed to instill a safe environment for all students and staff.

All My Best,
Wendy Craft

Lovejoy Senior Requests Assistance with Senior Project
A message from Lovejoy Senior, Alexandra Brungardt:

"As an incoming senior, I have selected a project that is close to my heart. There is a "Toy Closet" at the Cancer Hospital from which patients can choose an item to help during their stay. I want to stock the Closet with as many toys as possible.  In order to purchase toys for the closet, donation bins will be placed at each of the schools and the red building. These bins will be collecting gently used Lovejoy Spirit Wear. Once collected, the spirit wear will be sold and the money used to buy Toys for the Closet. The toys will be donated in memory of Walker Jack Rainey. I can be reached at brungardt_alexandra@lovejoyisd.com with any comments or questions. Thank you for your generosity."
