April 30, 2021
Dear Lovejoy Families,

We have had a very busy week, and we are very excited about the opportunity for our students to learn from Bruce Hale for our Author Visit. A big thank you to our PTO for providing this assembly for our students.

I know that we all have many mixed emotions about the restructuring of elementary schools. I want to assure you that we are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for all of our students, parents, and staff. In the upcoming weeks, I will give more information around ways we are working on this transition now. I know many of you are worried about your child's transition, but I have faith in our students. Our mission is “Growing ALL Hearts & Minds.” Through our character education, we work on grit, perseverance, and the ability to tackle any challenge that we are faced within our life. I honestly believe this is going to be a time for our students to SHINE. Yes, they will be in a different building, but there will be familiar faces at either campus that will bring them a sense of belonging and comfort.

I feel confident that we can face this restructure together as a community with grace and dignity because we are all LEOPARDS.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel to contact me at any time. I hope that you have a wonderful weekend.

All My Best,
Wendy Craft

My mission is to be a servant leader who works with students, parents, and staff to build a community that fosters relationships and learning where everyone THRIVES. Each day, I strive to make the choice to be great versus comfortable, because you can't be both!
LES Information
PTO Presents Author, Bruce Hale: TODAY!
LES PTO is excited to present author Bruce Hale, coming virtually on April 30th. Bruce‘s presentations are a blend of character education, stand-up comedy, and pro-literacy message. His lively assembly includes an audiovisual presentation about his journey from reluctant reader to author, a storytelling from one of his books, a question-and-answer session with students, and a brief cartooning lesson. Kids come away inspired, eager to write and illustrate their own books. He will give two virtual presentations, one for K-2nd students and the other for 3rd-4th students.
Super Skills Day: May 21st
Super Skills Day is an event where all students have the opportunity to show off their athletic skills. This year’s event is slated for Friday, May 21st. The primary students (K-2nd) participate from 8:45-11:55am and the intermediate
(3rd and 4th) from 12:30-2:50pm.

Students will progress through a variety of skill events, rotating every 15 minutes to the next period. We will allow 10 minutes before progressing to the next period for students to stop at a sanitize station to sanitize hands. Some of the events include Bowling, Striker Ball, Dribble Relay, and a few traditional events like 3 Legged Race and Sack Race. We ask that students come properly attired in shorts or sweatpants with running shoes, not spiked track style. Please be sure your child brings a water bottle that can be refilled several times and labeled with his/her name. Sunscreen would be a good idea as well.
Parents are invited to join in the activities as enthusiastic spectators or volunteer to help one of the Sessions (Morning or Afternoon). If you would like to volunteer to help, please click the links: K-2 Volunteers, 3-4 Volunteers
to sign up. (Make sure you complete the online background check). Events will take place on the playground and in the gym.

Not Returning to LISD Next Year?

State Aid Funding
Lovejoy ISD has learned from the Texas Education Agency that districts will be eligible for "Hold Harmless" state aid funding in the 4th - 6th six weeks of school IF the following conditions are met:

  1. A districts average on-campus attendance participation rate during the sixth 6-weeks attendance reporting period is equal to or greater than 80% of all students educated during the sixth 6-weeks; or
  2. A districts average on-campus attendance participation rate during the sixth 6-weeks attendance reporting period is equal to or greater than the on-campus attendance participation rate reported on the LEA’s October 2020 PEIMS Fall Snapshot.

We need your help! Lovejoy ISD needs to ensure that all students who have signed up for on-campus instruction learning for Q4 are present every day on campus unless they are officially quarantined or are absent for other valid reasons such as illness, doctor's appointments, etc.

Since Lovejoy ISD is funded on daily attendance, we need your help in ensuring we receive all possible funding. Please help us by ensuring if your student is enrolled in on-campus instruction they are physically on campus.
Plans for 2021-2022 School Year
As we plan for the 2021-2022 school year, Lovejoy ISD will return to normal, pre-COVID operations.

For the 2021- 2022 school year:
  • Masks will not be required, but optional for those who choose to wear
  • All instruction will be face-to-face, LISD will not offer virtual learning
  • Secondary schedules will return to a traditional 8 period day

Please note that our plans to return to normal pre-COVID operations is based on current health conditions.

Changes may be required if guided differently by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), Governor’s Executive order, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Collin County Health Department or the Department of Texas Health and Human Services hospitalization rates impact local guidance.

Adopt a 2021 Lovejoy Senior Community Project
Brooklyn Lloyd is a junior at LHS who is a part of the Varsity Volleyball Team, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), and PALS. For her senior project, she is doing an "Adopt a 2021 Lovejoy Senior" Facebook page where each senior posts a bio about them and a person in our community chooses to "adopt" and spoil them with gifts. As we all know, these seniors have gone through so much with COVID-19 and have missed out on a normal senior year. So, what better way than to show them love than with tangible gifts they can remember forever. As a community, we can make light of this unexpected situation by showering them with our Love and Joy! To be apart of this, you can join our Facebook group page “Adopt a 2021 LOVEJOY Senior” and adopt a senior you feel led to bless. Spread the word and let all the senior parents know about this so they can add their senior's bio so they can get adopted! Also, check it out if you would like to adopt any of the seniors so we don't leave any behind. However, if you do not have Facebook, no problem! Just contact Brooklyn Lloyd at lloyd_brooklyn@lovejoyisd.com and she can help you! Let's show these kids some LOVE!

Student Nutrition
Beginning Monday, May 10th, for the remainder of the school year, students will NO LONGER be able to "Charge" on lunch accounts resulting in a negative balance.
Athletic Tickets
There has been some confusion in regards to ticket sales, as in the past all students and staff have been allowed in free to all athletic contests (with school ID).  Due to UIL covid-19 attendance capacity limitation regulations, we are forced to charge for entrance to all athletic contests for all staff and students. The tickets sales assist the athletic department in keeping with the capacity limitations required of us. If you have questions, please contact the Lovejoy Athletic Office.
