Dear Lovejoy Families,

We are so proud of all of our fourth graders who participated in the Spelling Bee this week. Our top 3 finalists were Isabella Konecny who finished in third place (not pictured), Addison McGuire who finished in second place pictures below on the right, and our winner who will represent Lovejoy Elementary in the Collin County Spelling Bee is Wyatt Sherry pictured below on the left. We wish him the very best, and we know that he will do an awesome job in February.
It was an honor to have Trustee Anne Smith on our campus this week. She started her day on the announcements teaching us about serving on the school board and the many decisions that our school board makes. Then, she met with our 4th graders and did a Book Talk with them about The Coffee Bean for Kids by Jon Gordon and Damon West. Mrs. Smith through her book talk about the inspiring story of Gavin, a young boy with the difficult task of starting school in a new town. Gavin’s teacher, Mrs. Spring, teaches him the story of the carrot, the egg, and the coffee bean. The environments we find ourselves in, like a pot of boiling, hot water, can change, weaken, or harden us, and test who we truly are. We can be like the carrot that weakens in the pot or like the egg that hardens. Or, we can be like the coffee bean and discover the power inside us to transform our environment. Mrs. Smith gave each student a coffee bean as a reminder and a challenge to transform the world around them. I can't wait to see how our 4th graders step up to her challenge.
We have definitely had a great week at LES! As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel to contact me at any time.

All My Best,

Athletic Tickets
There has been some confusion in regards to ticket sales, as in the past all students and staff have been allowed in free to all athletic contests (with school ID).  Due to UIL covid-19 attendance capacity limitation regulations we are forced to charge for entrance to all athletic contests for all staff and students. The tickets sales assist the athletic department in keeping with the capacity limitations required of us. If you have questions, please contact the Lovejoy Athletic Office.
