March 25, 2021
Dear Lovejoy Families,

We have had a great week of learning. I loved seeing everyone yesterday in their new spring outfits for picture day. As a reminder, you will be receiving a "proof" of this picture in a couple of weeks so you can determine if you would like to purchase them.

We need your help in the morning for drop-off. Our new system is very efficient, but we need your help with two things. First, please watch your speed in our parking lot. We have teachers and students who are walking in the parking lot, and we want you to be mindful of this as you are entering or exiting the parking lot. Secondly, we kindly ask that our first and second grade parents go all the way around the back loop by the tree and not cut through the parking lot after dropping your child off each morning. We have many students who are crossing the crosswalk, and this makes it very dangerous.
Thank you in advance for helping us be safe by making these changes during morning dropoff.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel to contact me at any time.

All My Best,
Wendy Craft

LES Information
State Aid Funding
Lovejoy ISD has learned from the Texas Education Agency that districts will be eligible for "Hold Harmless" state aid funding in the 4th - 6th six weeks of school IF the following conditions are met:

  1. A districts average on-campus attendance participation rate during the sixth 6-weeks attendance reporting period is equal to or greater than 80% of all students educated during the sixth 6-weeks; or
  2. A districts average on-campus attendance participation rate during the sixth 6-weeks attendance reporting period is equal to or greater than the on-campus attendance participation rate reported on the LEA’s October 2020 PEIMS Fall Snapshot.

We need your help! Lovejoy ISD needs to ensure that all students who have signed up for on-campus instruction learning for Q4 are present every day on campus unless they are officially quarantined or are absent for other valid reasons such as illness, doctor's appointments, etc.

Since Lovejoy ISD is funded on daily attendance, we need your help in ensuring we receive all possible funding. Please help us by ensuring if your student is enrolled in on-campus instruction they are physically on campus.
Volunteer Opportunities: Coming Soon
Beginning next Monday, March 29th, our grade levels will be coordinating volunteers to help with copying projects.

In order to volunteer on our campuses, you must complete the
Volunteer Application. This can take a few days to process, so please complete it as soon as possible if you are interested in volunteering on campus.

We will be looking for additional volunteer opportunities on campus as well. Be on the lookout for more information and opportunities to come!

PTO Scholarship Application Available The Parent-Teacher Organizations in the Lovejoy Independent School District each will award one $500 scholarship to a college-bound senior graduating from Lovejoy High School in 2021. This centralized application means that each student completes the form ONCE, but is eligible for PTO scholarships through the Lovejoy schools they attended (plus the Lovejoy Council and Preschool PTO).

All student applicants (a) must have attended LHS during their sophomore, junior, and senior years; (b) belong to the LHS Parent-Teacher-Student Organization; (c) complete the online scholarship application, including the essays; (d) upload a resume; and (e) have one letters of recommendation submitted.

To begin the application process, students must complete a brief survey, located online at 2020-21 Scholarship INTENT TO APPLY. This survey, which requests their name and email address, indicates their intent to apply.

Once the above Intent to Apply survey is received, we will send the student a link to the online scholarship application. This link will allow students exit and return to the application in case they cannot complete it in one sitting.

THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MIDNIGHT FRIDAY APRIL 23, 2021

Please email Shannon Verschage at LJCouncilScholarship@gmail.com if you have any questions regarding this application.

Athletic Tickets
There has been some confusion in regards to ticket sales, as in the past all students and staff have been allowed in free to all athletic contests (with school ID).  Due to UIL covid-19 attendance capacity limitation regulations we are forced to charge for entrance to all athletic contests for all staff and students. The tickets sales assist the athletic department in keeping with the capacity limitations required of us. If you have questions, please contact the Lovejoy Athletic Office.
