March 4, 2021
Dear Lovejoy Families,

Happy Thursday! We are excited about having Leopard Live tomorrow "live" via a Zoom webinar tomorrow at
8:05 am. If students are on-campus, they will enjoy the celebration from their classrooms, and our virtual learners will be receiving the link today via Seesaw or Google Classroom. If your child is receiving an award, you will be receiving the link from your child's teacher, but we will also be sending a recording out to each of you tomorrow. Please be aware that our current mask policy will stay in place until our School Board makes a decision on Monday, March 15th.

I hope that everyone has a happy and safe spring break creating lifelong memories with their families. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel to contact me at any time.

All My Best,
Wendy Craft

Spring Book Fair: Last Day Tomorrow!
The Spring Book Fair is here! Students will be able to shop the fair in person each day next week. They will not be able to browse and touch all of the books as they usually would. Instead, students will tell the staff which books they would like to purchase and the books will be pulled for them. The fair will be open from 3-5 pm on Tuesday and Thursday for virtual students to come and shop.  This is a cashless fair. Parents, you will need to set your students up with an eWallet account so that when they come to shop, funds will be available for them. It is quick and easy to do. Another way to purchase books is to simply order from the Scholastic website and your books will be shipped directly to your home. Happy shopping and thank you for supporting the LES Library!
Spring Picture Day is Coming!
We will be offering Spring Individual Pictures on Wednesday, March 24th. Please look for more information to come regarding picture day and purchasing your child's pictures.

Please join us for Lovejoy Elementary Spirit Night at the Allen Chipotle (1985 N. Central Expressway) on Tuesday, March 16th. Make sure you mention Lovejoy Elementary before ordering and a portion of your proceeds will go to our LES PTO.

A Note From Nurse Debbie
We are definitely seeing the effects of allergy season already from coughs to congestion, sore throats, and headaches. I just wanted to send a quick reminder that when we assess a child for possible COVID symptoms, these symptoms are included on our list to be assessed by a physician if two or more symptoms are present. I know that this can be very frustrating knowing that your child suffers from seasonal allergies. The best plan of action would be to be proactive and treat allergy symptoms with medications that allow our kiddos to have a healthy productive day. I can be reached at 469.742.8132 or if you have any questions. Stay well and stay safe!
Extra Mask in Backpack
Just a reminder to put an extra mask in your child's backpack each day. Students have accidents, drop them, throw them away, etc. and often times need a 2nd mask during the day. Thank you for your help with this!

Pictures for the Yearbook - We Need Your Help!
Parents, we are asking for your help! Whether you are currently virtual or were only virtual at the beginning of the year, we ask that you please send in 4-5 pictures of your students learning. We will be using these pictures in the yearbook and want all of our LES students to be represented. Your help is greatly appreciated. Please email your pictures to as soon as possible. The construction of the yearbook is well underway and we need more pictures.
Kids Heart Challenge Update
Lovejoy Elementary Students, and Parents,

Thank you so much for everything you’ve done during the Kids Heart Challenge. We ended up raising $6,535.64, surpassing our goal of $3000. What a great accomplishment! The funds raised will benefit others, from providing funds for children born with heart defects, to ongoing procedures and eventually, giving the gift of life. Also, the PE will receive a certificate from US Games for the coaches to purchase equipment. Lastly, this year we were able to share vital information on staying heart healthy and positive social and emotional messaging for students. Coach Blom and Coach Nicholson are very proud of all the wonderful support! LES ROCKS!

Thank you,
Coach Blom, Coach Nicholson and The American Heart Association

Athletic Tickets
There has been some confusion in regards to ticket sales, as in the past all students and staff have been allowed in free to all athletic contests (with school ID).  Due to UIL covid-19 attendance capacity limitation regulations we are forced to charge for entrance to all athletic contests for all staff and students. The tickets sales assist the athletic department in keeping with the capacity limitations required of us. If you have questions, please contact the Lovejoy Athletic Office.
