November 5, 2020
Dear Lovejoy Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. Our teachers worked very hard on Monday and Tuesday attending professional development to better their craft. Our students came back yesterday ready to learn and hit the ground running to maximize these three days.

Please have your child will join us in honoring our Veterans on Wednesday, November 11th by wearing red, white, and blue. We are proud that we have two Veterans on our campus, Mr. Manny and Mr. Smith. I hope that you have a fantastic weekend.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

All My Best,
Wendy Craft

LES Information
7th Annual Letter Writing Campaign!

Lovejoy Family!! The 7th annual Lovejoy Letter Campaign for teachers and staff members has begun! Many of you are familiar with this beloved tradition, but for those of you who are not, it is the time of year when we write appreciation letters for each of our teachers and staff members across the district.
The letters do not have to be elaborate or lengthy. The goal is just for people to write a note of thanks to show appreciation to their teachers, the staff and administration in our district. It is the opportunity for us to take the time to let each person who makes a difference for us throughout the school day know how much we value them.

Please clearly label the envelope with the staff/teacher’s name and LLC (Lovejoy Letter Campaign) and return the letter to the box located at specified location of each campus no later than Friday November 13th. Please feel free to share this message as we spread the word about the campaign. We do not want to add any extra burden to our kids and parents, but we do want to share how much we appreciate our teachers and staff - especially this year in these very unusual times!

Veterans Day Celebration
Unfortunately, we will not be able to have our traditional Veteran's Day program. But, we still want to honor our Veterans in a meaningful way. Lovejoy Elementary will honor our community veterans with a virtual presentation on November 11th. To ensure we recognize all our Lovejoy staff, family, and friends who are currently serving or have served in the armed forces we invite you to complete this Google Form and upload photos of your armed forces members for our presentation. Photos can be uploaded directly into the form from mobile devices or computers. Please upload photos by November 4th. If you have any questions please contact with the words "Veterans Day" in the subject line.

Veterans Day: Tuesday, November 11th
In honor of our Veterans, please wear Red, White, and Blue to school!

“MOD is the original superfast pizza experience – artisan-style pizzas and salads are individually sized, made on demand, and ready in just minutes. Choose from over 30 toppings – the price stays the same no matter what you pick.”

“Food authenticity is a huge deal with us – where it comes from, how it’s prepared – and of course, how it tastes. From pressing our dough daily to roasting vegetables – we’ve made it a priority to keep our food true. If we wouldn’t serve it to our kids, we won’t serve it to you. It’s that simple.”

Celebrate Recycle Week with a Twist! November 9th - 13th

Recycle those unused pantry items for those in need! This year we are recycling items by giving them to the Allen Community Outreach. We will have collection boxes at the entrance of each morning drop off area. Search your pantry for non-expired canned or boxed foods.

The grade level with the most items collected will win a snack party!
LES Thankful Cart
Our LES teachers and staff have been amazing during these strange and ever changing times! Lets show them how we appreciate them by providing a "Thankful Snack Cart" on November 13th. Erin and Janean have offered to go door to door with our snacks/drinks we provide (since we can't go inside). Due to Covid we cannot accept large size products (1ltr, family size, etc). They must be INDIVIDUAL SIZED. Please drop your items off by NOVEMBER 6TH to front table in entry or send with your kiddo labeled front office. If we provide more than they can hand out in one day the hope is to have another day of the snack cart!

Art Sparks

Art Sparks is...

A CELEBRATION of the visual arts focusing on elementary school students. An art appreciation program which exposes over 6000 Allen school children and adults to great works of art.

An EXPLORATION of what is seen with one’s eyes, as well as with one’s heart and intellect. Students use not only their eyes, but also their intellect and heart to put into words thoughts about what a work of art means on a personal level.

A COLLABORATION of city local sponsorship and citizen talent. ArtSparks is sponsored by the Allen Arts Alliance and staffed by dedicated community volunteers. Volunteers include parents, grandparents, retired educators, and local business leaders among others.

We are excited to announce that Art Sparks WILL be returning this year! We have a great ONLINE version of the program that provides an up-close and informative look at Art & Art History.

We would love to have parents take advantage of presenting to your child's class. There will be a total of four presentations for the school year. These will be done virtually. You will need to be comfortable with ZOOM and screen sharing. All of the material will be provided.

If you are interested in volunteering for your child’s class please contact Christina Broyles or click below!

National Nachos Day: Friday, November 6th
Come out and help us celebrate National Nachos Day on Friday, November 6th. We will be offering cheese nachos or meat and cheese nachos for lunch Friday. Hope you will celebrate with us!
Athletic Tickets
There has been some confusion in regards to ticket sales, as in the past all students and staff have been allowed in free to all athletic contests (with school ID).  Due to UIL covid-19 attendance capacity limitation regulations we are forced to charge for entrance to all athletic contests for all staff and students. The tickets sales assist the athletic department in keeping with the capacity limitations required of us. If you have questions, please contact the Lovejoy Athletic Office.
