Dear Lovejoy Families,

We have had a great week learning about making good choices for our body and mind by "Being Happy, Being Brave, and Being Drug Free." We are excited to conclude our week by having a virtual program "Operation Be Smart" by James Wand the magic spy. We would like to thank our amazing PTO for providing this program to our students, staff, and families. If you are a virtual learner, your will be receiving the link in your child's Seesaw by tomorrow morning at 8. Please see your child's teacher for more information.

As a reminder, students do not have school on Monday, November 2nd and Tuesday, November 3rd. Our teachers and staff will be participating in Professional Development. These two days give our teachers an opportunity to learn different strategies and collaboratively plan to better serve our students. As a reminder, our campus will be closed, but if you need anything, please do not hesitate to call us at 469.742.8100.

I hope that you enjoy your four day weekend with your family creating lifelong memories. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

All My Best,
Wendy Craft

Red Ribbon Week Wrap Up
We are so excited to conclude our celebration of Red Ribbon Week with James Wand, performer and magician, who will present his assembly "Operation Be Smart!" tomorrow. Teachers will be airing his virtual assembly to their classes during class time.

The James Wand Secret Agent Magic Show is back again this year, but with a new presentation for Red Ribbon Week, “Operation Be Smart!” Through his amazing magic tricks and entertaining story of secret agents and evil enemies, James Wand will teach our students about the dangers of alcohol, cigarettes/vaping, and drugs. This is much more than a “Just Say No” type of assembly, however. James explains to the kids why these substances are harmful and provides techniques they can use to help avoid them in an age-appropriate way. He will show them how to say “no!” to alcohol, cigarettes/vaping and drugs and “YES!” to a bright future. His engaging and lively presentation will help students remember how to say “no!” to alcohol and drugs and say “YES!” to a bright future! We are so thankful to our generous PTO for sponsoring his assembly for us again this year!
7th Annual Letter Writing Campaign!

Lovejoy Family!! The 7th annual Lovejoy Letter Campaign for teachers and staff members has begun! Many of you are familiar with this beloved tradition, but for those of you who are not, it is the time of year when we write appreciation letters for each of our teachers and staff members across the district.

The letters do not have to be elaborate or lengthy. The goal is just for people to write a note of thanks to show appreciation to their teachers, the staff and administration in our district. It is the opportunity for us to take the time to let each person who makes a difference for us throughout the school day know how much we value them.

Please clearly label the envelope with the staff/teacher’s name and LLC (Lovejoy Letter Campaign) and return the letter to the box located at specified location of each campus no later than Friday November 13th. Please feel free to share this message as we spread the word about the campaign. We do not want to add any extra burden to our kids and parents, but we do want to share how much we appreciate our teachers and staff - especially this year in these very unusual times!

Our LES teachers and staff have been amazing during these strange and ever changing times! Lets show them how we appreciate them by providing a "Thankful Snack Cart" on November 13th. Erin and Janean have offered to go door to door with our snacks/drinks we provide (since we can't go inside). Due to Covid we cannot accept large size products (1ltr, family size, etc). They must be INDIVIDUAL SIZED. Please drop your items off by NOVEMBER 6TH to front table in entry or send with your kiddo labeled front office. If we provide more than they can hand out in one day the hope is to have another day of the snack cart!

Art Sparks

Art Sparks is...

A CELEBRATION of the visual arts focusing on elementary school students. An art appreciation program which exposes over 6000 Allen school children and adults to great works of art.

An EXPLORATION of what is seen with one’s eyes, as well as with one’s heart and intellect. Students use not only their eyes, but also their intellect and heart to put into words thoughts about what a work of art means on a personal level.

A COLLABORATION of city local sponsorship and citizen talent. ArtSparks is sponsored by the Allen Arts Alliance and staffed by dedicated community volunteers. Volunteers include parents, grandparents, retired educators, and local business leaders among others.

We are excited to announce that Art Sparks WILL be returning this year! We have a great ONLINE version of the program that provides an up-close and informative look at Art & Art History.

We would love to have parents take advantage of presenting to your child's class. There will be a total of four presentations for the school year. These will be done virtually. You will need to be comfortable with ZOOM and screen sharing. All of the material will be provided.

If you are interested in volunteering for your child’s class please contact Christina Broyles or click below!

Athletic Tickets
There has been some confusion in regards to ticket sales, as in the past all students and staff have been allowed in free to all athletic contests (with school ID).  Due to UIL covid-19 attendance capacity limitation regulations we are forced to charge for entrance to all athletic contests for all staff and students. The tickets sales assist the athletic department in keeping with the capacity limitations required of us. If you have questions, please contact the Lovejoy Athletic Office.
