Note From The Principal
Week 2 and doing GREAT....
Hey LES Families!

As we finish week 2 we are truly starting to get into the routine of school. Our students continue to show GRIT and RESILIENCE with the new procedures set in place to keep safe and healthy at school. #InThisTogetherLCS

This month our Hard Hat theme is EFFORT:

A vigorous or determined attempt; hard physical or mental work. Since effort is similar to working hard, we encourage you to discuss effort in relation to the energy and determination children put toward being a good teammate. When we make effort in developing teammate skills a focus, it gives every child, especially those who aren’t as naturally gifted or academically successful an opportunity to shine and be leaders. When we focus on effort of this sort, we communicate the importance of being a good teammate and we inspire every student to work toward that goal.

Lastly, Monday, September 14th, we will celebrate Lemonade Day in honor of Mrs. Carol Daniels. Please see below for our Spirit Week themes we have planned.

Take Care!!
Mr. Riley

5 quick things you should know:

  1. Breakfast/Lunch Money-Please send money in an envelope with your child's name, teacher's name and grade level on it. This helps us keep track of it instead of having loose money.
  2. Our carline is still a work in progress. We have made small adjustments each week that help us get students out of the building safely. You could help us by placing your child's name on a large piece of paper on your dash so it is visible to read by the teachers walking kids down the line.
  3. When dropping kids off in the morning only use the carline. DO NOT drop off in front of the building or leave kids unattended prior to 8:30. We do not let students enter the building until then. We have found some outside as early as 8:10 with no adult supervision.
  4. Please ensure your Final Forms are complete and updated. Click Here.
  5. When calling your student out absent for the day please leave a reason WHY on our attendance hotline. When no reason is given we will mark them as unexcused and use COVID guidelines once they return.

Before and After School Program Continues to Grow at London
Last year, the London City School District launched a partnership with Champions in order to provide before and after school care options for London Elementary Families. A promising, but modest start ended when Ohio transitioned to remote learning last March. Due to the Pandemic, summer camps, which were previously planned for students in June, July, and August, were also scrapped. With a new year, comes new possibilities and the enrollment of the program has jumped considerably to start the year with new inquiries coming in every day.
Champions is an accredited, curriculum-based childcare program, which integrates social-emotional and inquiry-based learning with a focus on building executive-function skills. Student interests help drive activities that are focused on these areas.
The program operates from 6:30 am until 6:00 pm every day and is housed on the first floor of London Elementary School. With the consolidation and relocation of London's Preschool program to Fairhaven, the district is now providing transportation for students to and from London Elementary School for Preschool wrap-around care.

Families interested in the program should contact Shari Paquette at 513.680.2564 or or visit
