LGBT MPA at PCMA Educon 2022!
This week, LGBT Meeting Professionals Association partnered with PCMA to bring DE&I programming, brought you you by Marriott International.
Some of the courses LGBT MPA produced were, The Business Case for Diversity, EIDB: Inclusive Event Strategies, and our panel discussion, Rolling Out the Rainbow Carpet: Creating Welcome Destinations!
Our panelists, Maria GrassoJason Dunn Sr., and Rory G. Archibald, and our moderator, Chase Brunson, CMP had a enlightening and informative discussion on what their destinations are doing to be more inclusive and welcoming as well as what strategies other destinations can utilize in their own cities! Creating welcoming destinations is essential and inclusion matters!

Special thanks to Josh Henry for helping plan this panel discussion as well as all of the education sessions this week! And to Jean Craciun for moderating our Business Case for Diversity course!

Growing LGBT ID Seen Across Major U.S. Racial, Ethnic Groups
"The growth in the U.S. LGBT population that Gallup reported earlier this year is reflected across the nation's largest U.S. racial and ethnic groups. Non-Hispanic Black, Non-Hispanic White, and Hispanic adults in the U.S. are all more likely today to identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or something other than heterosexual than they were in 2012, when Gallup began measuring LGBT identification."

NYC Pride Events!
The March: Sunday, June 26th, 12PM with Grand Marshals Ts Madison, Punkie Johnson, Schuyler Bailar, Dominique Morgan, Chase Strangio! The NYC Pride March will begin at noon on June 26th from 25th Street and 5th Avenue. Marchers will procees south on 5th Avenue before heading west on 8th Street. After crossing over 6th Avenue, the March will continue on Christopher Street passing the Stonewall National Monument. It will then turn north on 7th Avenue, passing the New York AIDS memorial, before dispersing in Chelsea at 16th Street and 7th Avenue. Join us at the NYC Pride March Grandstand for a VIP viewing experience!
Pridefest: June 26th, 11AM! Pridefest will take place on 4th Avenue between East 8th Street and East 13th Street. The festival can be accessed from all side-streets within the event area. Community gathering experience FamilyFest will be located at the Astor Plaza.
Turn your Pride Sunday up a notch with the PrideFest Passport! This ticket allows for a curated path through the street festival ensuring you get to see the hottest activations and artists throughout the day.
The Rally, June 24th, 4PM, The Battery: The first Rally occurred one month after the Stonewall Uprising in June 1969, when 500 people gathered for a "Gay Power" demonstration in Washington Square Park and followed by a candlelight vigil in Sheridan Square. NYC Pride has continued this proud tradition by hosting the event in various locations throughout the city.
The Conference, June 23rd, 9AM, New York Law School: NYC Pride's annual symposium of transformative change makers focused on activism and issues impacting the community.
The Brunch, June 19th, 12PM, 74Wythe: A curation of Juneteenth food stories and bites from 6 amazing Black LGBTQIA+ chefs hosted and curated in partnership with Chef Sicily Sierra!
