LGBTQ, Muslims, and Religious Freedom
A Frank Discussion with Ismail Royer and Dr. Abdullah bin Hamid Ali
There are some very important cases currently before the Supreme Court of the United States that can impact the lives of Muslims in America today. The LGBTQ and their advocates among Muslims and non-Muslims are attempting to convince the Supreme Court to redefine 'sex' (male and female) under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
This redefinition would expand the understanding of sex to include LGBTQ claims about sexual "orientation" and transgender's 'choice' of sexual 'identity'.
What does this redefining of sexuality have to do with Muslims living in America? What are the dangers posed to the Muslim community?
Why are some Muslim organizations and groups supporting the LGBTQ community in these issues?
Please join us for a special, live, Lamppost presentation with Ustadh Ismail Royer and Dr. Abdullah Ali. Ustadh Ismail and Dr. Abdullah will discuss why they submitted an amicus brief to the Supreme Court in support of Islamic beliefs in regards to the matters before the Court. They will explore with us how and why these cases before the Supreme Court effect Muslim's religious rights in American. This presentation will be tomorrow-Saturday, November 2nd at 2 pm EST on the Lamppost Education Initiative's Facebook page.
