Funding for Research on COVID Testing at Dental Practices

Dean Cecile A. Feldman
RSDM researchers have received a nearly $200,000 grant to begin investigating whether regular COVID-19 testing at dental practices would improve safety and reassure staff and patients. "We're assuming people will feel safer if patients and dental office staff are tested regularly, but we're not sure,'' said Dean Cecile A. Feldman, the project's principal investigator. The pilot study, funded by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, will explore the effect of tests administered to staff and patients.  LEARN MORE

Continuing Dental Education Offers Hybrid Courses

Continuing Dental Education continues at RSDM, even during a pandemic. "We want to let people know that we're still here, working to provide them with quality continuing education, and hoping they'll come and visit us, whether it be live or online,'' said CDE director Janice Reed-Gibbs. Although several classes are fully online, courses that incorporate hybrid learning allow students to attend lectures and lessons in person at the Oral Health Pavilion, she said. "We're doing Zoom and live learning at the same time. So for those who don't want to sit in their office and go on the computer, you can get out.'' LEARN MORE
