Pilot Knob Mountain Protected,
2025 Land Campaign Complete!
| | |
The LGLC purchased 517 acres of Pilot Knob Mountain on Tuesday, July 29, marking a pivotal moment in the LGLC’s $9 million 2025 Land Campaign. The $3.8 million purchase includes densely forested mountainside and Pilot Knob’s 2,159-foot summit and ridgeline. With 1.6 miles of streams that ultimately flow into Kattskill Bay, this land is incredibly important for protecting the water quality of Lake George.
The permanent protection of Pilot Knob Mountain was a keystone project in the LGLC’s 2025 Land Campaign, which was completed in record time and celebrated during our Gala (see below). In addition to Pilot Knob Mountain, the Campaign also included the protection of more than 700 acres in the Indian Brook and Northwest Bay area of Bolton. Together, these forested lands have 2.8 miles of streams and more than 26 acres of wetlands that are critical to maintaining Lake George’s exceptional water quality.
| | 2025 Gala - An Evening of Celebration | | | | |
This year nearly 300 guests helped us to celebrate the completion of our $9-million 2025 Land Campaign, then rallied to raise even more for continued land protection projects.
Overall, the evening raised an additional $330,000 to support the ongoing work of the LGLC to protect the land that protects Lake George. Read more here about this incredible evening!
| | We are extremely thankful for those who joined this year’s generous Honorary Committee, whose leadership gifts were critical to the success of the event, as well as to those who donated items to our silent action, and who volunteered their time and talent to the preparation and running of the Gala. This event could not have been possible without their support. | | Sign Up for Amy's Race - October 4 | | |

| | Whether you’re racing for a PR or just for the fun of it, every step supports critical land protection projects, and champions sustainable trailways, outdoor recreation, and helps expand outdoor access in the Lake George region. | | Hunting Application is Open | | | | |
Applications to hunt on select LGLC lands may be submitted online now until September 14. For complete rules for hunting on LGLC lands and the online application, visit LGLC.org/hunting.
The LGLC allows deer hunting on some of its preserves as part of an overall effort to maintain healthy lands. An overabundance of deer can harm the health of the herd, and prevent forest regrowth.
