We are honored to have received generous donations from two local businesses in support of the LGLC's gazebo reconstruction project. The gazebo is an icon in the south basin, part of the LGLC's Schumann Preserve at Pilot Knob. Its reconstruction is expected to take place this spring, and upon completion will be rededicated as the Teresa M. and George E. Lawrence Memorial Gazebo.

Adirondack Pub & Brewery Owner John Carr recently presented two checks to the LGLC (pictured above), after collaborating on two new fundraising efforts - providing proceeds from its Easy Hike IPA and the hosting its first Dine for the Lake benefit night held December 5.

"We’re thrilled to contribute to the preservation of this treasured part of our community,” said John. “The Pilot Knob gazebo is more than just a structure—it’s a place that holds so many fond memories through more than three decades, and it's symbolic of how the natural beauty and history of Lake George come together to make it so special."

The LGLC is accepting applications for a paid summer Programs Intern position for 2025; deadline to apply is March 1. This position will support the work of our Education and Outreach, and Conservation Programs.

Work alongside staff to learn about land management, and help coordinate various summer events designed to educate the public about our mission, strengthen our brand, and fundraise for projects.

This opportunity is made possible in part thanks to the George C. Singer Educational Fund, which was created and endowed by the Singer family to support LGLC's educational programs.

The Lake George Hike-A-Thon is a free, family-friendly event that will take place on Saturday, July 5, with 25+ different guided groups around Lake George (or on your own - our "virtual" option), followed by a free After Party with food trucks, activities, and live music.

You choose where you'd like to participate - sites vary in levels of difficulty, from the accessible drive up Prospect Mt. to 5+ mile challenging hikes, as well as water sites.

Our boat options include a stand-up paddleboard in Huddle Bay, kayak in Northwest Bay, and the wooden boat Cruise-A-Thon in the south basin!

Registration for the Hike-A-Thon will open at 10 a.m. (EST) on Monday, March 3. Many sites fill up FAST (within the first hour), so be sure to get in early! Everyone who signs up by April 1 will receive a free event t-shirt. Information about available sites, how to volunteer, and how to sponsor the event are all at lakegeorgehikeathon.org.
