Protecting the Land that Protects the Lake since 1988

We're pleased to announce that the LGLC has been awarded a grant of $27,600 from this year’s New York State Conservation Partnership Program (NYSCPP) to help strengthen our donor and land database systems, and provide additional technology, field equipment, and services to keep the organization working efficiently and effectively.

This comes at a time when we're managing a record number of land conservation projects throughout the Lake George watershed, as well as continuing to provide safe recreational resources and quality educational and outreach programming to residents, landowners, and visitors, year-round.

The Land & Water Conservation Celebration is the LGLC's largest and most impactful event of the year. This year we'll be at the beautiful Silver Bay YMCA campus, on August 2.

You are invited to be a conservation leader by joining this year's Honorary Committee. Limited general tickets will go on sale in June.

We are excited and honored to have received several pledges since launching the 2024 Legacy Challenge presented by Manning and Ginny Rowan Smith, including from the Metzger family, seen and quoted, above. These pledges are making a real impact on the health and quality of Lake George. But we still have far to go to meet the Challenge!

For each new legacy pledge received by the LGLC until November 30, the Smiths will donate $5,000 to the LGLC, up to a total of $324,000!

Through this Challenge, your legacy gift will make a positive impact on Lake George that will last beyond your lifetime AND your pledge will allow us to do more, today, to permanently protect land and the water quality of Lake George.

LGLC staff released silver flies at our Clark Hollow Bay Preserve in Putnam as part of our ongoing management of the invasive hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA). These insects feed exclusively on HWA and are just one part of our multi-pronged approach to protect our lands.

Did you know you can access the LGLC's Sucker Brook Preserve, in Putnam, by boat? A seasonal dock is available on a first-come, first-served basis - and it's in for the season!

You can find the dock about 1/2-mile south of Adirondack Camp.
