SOUL Club Hurricane Helene Fundraiser

Our final check for the Hat Day donations from Hurricane Helene Relief going to Anna Maria Island is for $171. Thank you to all who donated and helped us send some love from LGMS!

Thank you again,

SOUL Club

SOUL Club Food Drive

The SOUL Club would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our students, families and staff for your contributions to the annual food drive! We appreciate all of your efforts and thoughtfulness this past week. It will be greatly appreciated and beneficial to the families in our community.

All donations will be delivered to the Lake Geneva Food Pantry this coming Monday 11/25 after school.

Our goal this year was to bring in 720 points worth of items. We smashed that goal by bringing in a total of over 4982 points' worth of items (we had additional items dropped off after we finished counting). Keeping in mind we know that there are some doubling of points for some items brought in, but even if we cut this in half and assume everything was a bonus item, that would put us at approximately 2500 items donated.

Thank you again!

VETERANS DAY PROGRAM AT LGMS

November 11, 2024

This morning of November 11th, Lake Geneva Middle School hosted its annual Veterans Day celebration. The program featured patriotic music performed by the school’s seventh and eighth-grade orchestras, bands, and choirs, directed by Mrs. Lauren Klement, Mrs. Amanda Krause, and Mrs. Kim May. Mrs. Deanna Deal accompanied the choirs.

A highlight of the event was the combined performance of “You're A Grand Old Flag,” during which the audience joined in a sing-along. The Color Guard from Post 24 of the American Legion, located in Lake Geneva, posted the colors, and veterans in attendance introduced themselves and shared when and where they served. Guest speaker David VanSchyndel spoke about his service.

Following the assembly, community members and family members of students who are veterans, spouses of veterans, or widows of veterans attended a luncheon at 11:00 a.m., prepared and served by students from Mrs. Sarah Opie’s family and consumer science class.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT LGMS?

Special Speaker Mr. K

Lake and Olympus House science classes at Lake Geneva Middle School are investigating flameless heaters in a Meal, Ready-to-Eat (MRE) that provides hot food to people by just adding water. To tell us more about his experience with MREs, guest speaker Mr. Konieczski explained how this technology made a difference to him while he served in the U.S. Navy. Thank you for sharing your story with us and for your service.

Hope Squad Tree of Gratitude

This month, the Lake Geneva Middle School Hope Squad is focusing on the month of gratitude. Hope Squad members made a tree of gratitude and during lunch students were able to put up messages of what they are grateful for. This will hang in the lunch/common area for everyone to see. #LakeGenevaSchools #E3LG

WORMS!!

In seventh-grade science at Lake Geneva Middle School, students have been learning about mollusks, segmented worms, arthropods, and echinoderms. Last Wednesday, they dissected worms. Students first identified the different body parts of the worm and their function. Then, they set up their worm dissections and were able to view the internal parts of the segmented worm. Great job!

CharacterStrong-Conflict Resolution

Sixth grade students participated in guidance lessons with Mrs. Kidwell at Lake Geneva Middle School. They are learning about conflict resolution and participating in lessons on our Character Strong Curriculum. Students had to work together to build the tallest tower using marshmallows, spaghetti noodles, tape and string.

Charcuterie Boards in F.A.C.S.

Students from Ms. Opie's 8th grade FACs class competed in a charcuterie board competition yesterday! Students created their own themes for their boards, completed a grocery list of items they wanted to present on the board, and assembled the boards for judging. It was a delicious time!

WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME

When to Send Your Child to School

or Keep Them Home?

At Lake Geneva Schools, we know that regular attendance is key to academic success! Being in class daily helps students build strong habits, stay engaged, and gain valuable social skills. However, we also want to maintain a healthy, germ-free learning environment.

Use this guide (https://bit.ly/healthyLGS) to help decide when your child should attend school or stay home to recover. If your child has a fever over 100.4°F, vomiting, or diarrhea in the last 24 hours, it's best for them to rest at home. For minor symptoms like a runny nose, if there’s no fever, they’re ready for class!

When in doubt, contact the school health office, and let's work together to keep everyone healthy and learning!

DISTRICT TEXT ALERTS

Lake Geneva Schools has the ability to use SMS (text) messaging as another communication channel to share important information with families and staff regarding school closures or changes to the school day schedule. Federal law requires recipients to opt-in to receive such messages.

How can I opt-in to receive text messages?

📱Text the word “YES” or Y to 67587 from each wireless device on which you wish to receive texts.

📱Confirm that all text device numbers you wish to receive messages on are listed in your contact information: Families – verify that your cell phone is your primary phone number in your PowerSchool parent portal.

More information: https://bit.ly/4g2dhTb

COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL

Whom do I contact with a question or suggestion?

Lake Geneva Schools’ communication protocols help promote direct, open, and respectful interactions so that we quickly and efficiently resolve problems and concerns. The communication protocol starts with the staff member closest to the situation, as that person usually has the most information. However, at times, additional personnel are required to resolve specific concerns.
