Student Council:  We will have a meeting for all members on Wednesday, March 8th.

Dance Team: We will perform on Monday, March 6th and Thursday, March 9th at approximately 4:10 PM. The girls will need to arrange a ride for around 4:30 PM or they may return to the gym to watch the game and ride the 5:20 bus. There will be no other practice this week other than our performance nights. Please come cheer us on.

Jazz Choir:  No Jazz Choir Tuesday March 7.

Girls Basketball:  We will have our first interscholastic games on Monday and Thursday. Games begin at 3:45. Seventh grade will be home on Monday vs. Delavan-Darien and home on Thursday vs. Waterford. Eighth grade will be away on Monday and away on Thursday. Please check the LGMS website for conference school driving directions if needed. Additionally, practice will be Wednesday and Friday until 5pm.Please use Door O on the west side of the school when entering for games. Doors usually open 15 minutes prior to start of game. 

Stock Market Club:  Stock Market Club will continue meeting on Thursdays after school. The last meeting will be next week on Thursday, March 16th.

Yearbook:  Yearbook will meet on Tuesday, March 7th, until 4:10pm.

Band:  The 5th-8th Grade Band Midwinter Concert is Tuesday, March 7th at 6:00 pm in the LGMS gym. Band students need to be in their assigned spot by 5:30 ready to play. Band uniform: red band shirts, khaki pants, black shoes/socks.

Students are rehearsing for the Solo & Ensemble Music Festival. Good luck to all our students!

REGIONAL
SPELLING BEE
Congratulations to Kyle deGelder and Crete Slattery who represented Lake Geneva Schools at the Regional Spelling Bee on March 1, 2017 held at Whitewater High School.  There were 37 students competing for the top three spots and the chance to continue on to the State Spelling Bee.  Kyle finished in 12th place and Crete finished in 13th place at the bee.  We are very proud of both of them!

FORENSICS WRAPS UP SEASON
The LGMS forensics team ended a fantastic season with an awards party March 1st. This year, our nineteen team members participated in meets at Reek School, Brookwood, and Elkhorn Middle School. Students proudly earned 33 superior and 23 excellent rankings overall, with performances in prose, readers' theater, demonstration, poetry, and solo acting. Thank you for all your hard work! Great job students!

SCIENCE FUN!
Seventh grade science students are creating models of atoms of elements from the periodic table and displaying their work on our HUGE student-made “Periodic Table Wall” in the science classroom. Check it out!

OUTDOOR EDUCATION
Your child has received an information packet for our Outdoor Ed trip coming up in April. The mandatory health form and optional shirt order are due to their 10th hour teacher no later than March 24th. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Butke.

Mrs. Pettijohn: "I would like to recognize Mrs. Pettijohn because she is the most sweetest and understanding teacher.  I've have always loved science but she opened up new possibilities and subjects that I like.  Every morning in science class we have fun or at least make a joke and that makes people's day." -Molly

The Wisconsin Forward Exam is Coming this Spring! The Wisconsin Forward Exam is a state-wide exam designed to gauge how well students are doing in relation to the Wisconsin Academic Standards. These standards outline what students should know and be able to do in order to be college and career ready. The Forward Exam is administered online in the spring of each school year for Grades 3-8 in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics; Grades 4 and 8 in Science; and Grades 4, 8, and 10 in Social Studies. The Forward Exam will be given in schools between March 20 and May 5, 2017. Specific dates will be provided soon. Visit our website for more information at Wisconsin Forward Exam.
