LHBA Legislative Update

SB 462 by Sen. Martiny passed on the House floor. Thank you for contacting your representatives. SB 462 provides a broadening and clarification in existing law related to the State's policy on incentivizing affordable housing developments. The proposed change in the law clarifies permissible affordable housing incentives while also affirming that municipalities may induce
residential developments with voluntary economic incentives in an effort to ensure all sectors of housing needs are met. There are more steps in the process for SB 462. The House version has to be concurred back in the Senate before the bill can be sent to the governor. Regular Legislative Session has to conclude by June 4th at the latest.

NAHB's Bringing Housing Home Week

NAHB's Bringing Housing Home is an opportunity for members to conduct in-district meetings with their U.S. representatives and senators. These meetings, especially important during each election year, are key to strengthening relationships with lawmakers and to keep housing issues as a priority in Congress.

During the first week of May, our members met with several lawmakers throughout the state. As always we enjoy meeting with them and look forward to strengthening our relationship. We appreciate all of their hard work on important issues within our industry. Some of the various topics discussed were: Housing Finance Reform, Flood Insurance, Farm Bill, Regulatory Reform, Softwood Lumber, Workforce and Immigration, and the Comite River Diversion. Thank you Congressmen for taking the time to meet with us!
