HARD TO BELIEVE WE ARE INTO WEEK
FIVE ALREADY!!

WOW!! The first few weeks in our LHP have flown by! We have had relatively few challenges which is fabulous considering technical issues and internet availability can be extremely unpredictable in Haiti.
We are continuing to onboard new volunteers during this current session and also have a new winter session that will be starting in January. We still have many students in Haiti who would LOVE to participate in this program so please share information about our program with anyone you think may be interested in being a Hangout Partner.

THANK YOU for your time and dedication to helping our students in Haiti practice their English speaking skills
and for being an integral piece in achieving our mission here at Haiti Partners!
UPDATE FROM THE CHILDREN'S ACADEMY

It saddens us to report that the school office was broken into last weekend with five laptops being taken. Three of them were Macbook Airs, 3-4 years old and two were refurbished DELLS that were donated to us. Fortunately, three laptops are still with us. Alex and Vladina are confident that we can continue to function with two laptops. Alex organized a big circle last Monday morning with parents, staff, teachers, clinic staff, even students to talk about it and to invite engagement. What an amazing display of strength, solidarity and determination amidst a very difficult circumstance. Haiti Partners and Children’s Academy staff, accustomed to setbacks in a place of such disparity, strive to view every situation as an opportunity to learn (so that it doesn’t happen again) and also to galvanize our culture of positivity and determination despite such challenges. We invite financial and laptop donations to replace what was lost.

CONVERSATION SUGGESTION GUIDES
ARE BEING UPDATED ... THANK YOU FOR THE FEEDBACK!!

We received feedback from some of our volunteers that the Conversation Guides include some topic suggestions that may not be appropriate for discussion with a student who lives in Haiti. We will be updating the Conversation Guides in the coming weeks to make them more relevant to the students that we are
conversing with.
CORRECTING GRAMMAR DURING A
HANGOUTS CONVERSATION

Some volunteers may feel uncomfortable correcting their student partner's grammar, pronunciation etc. Vladina and Ronaldo asked that we let our volunteers know that the students in Haiti are very eager to learn English fully and want to be corrected on their grammar and pronunciation, so please don't hesitate to do so.
LHP FACEBOOK PAGE
COMING SOON!

The LHP Facebook page will be a great place for Hangout Partners, admins and staff in Haiti to connect, share ideas, provide feedback etc. We will send out an email to join the private page as soon as it's ready ...

STAY TUNED!
PLEASE DON'T FORGET ...

To send a message to your group using WHATSAPP on your cell phone to let Vladina & Ronaldo know if you are unable to make your session or will be late. The team in Haiti will be using this app to connect with volunteers if one of their student partners is sick or if something else comes up that will make a student not available that day.
