September 2020 Newsletter
Greetings from Elder Chuck Ramsay...

Happy September everyone!

Well now it’s September. That feels good to write and say. The seasons are still changing. Usually the Texas State Fair would be in starting up at the end of the month. School is now rocking along in some fashion or the other. We have spent the last few months learning about Zoom meetings galore. Now the children may Zoom ‘into’ school for who knows how long. Yet, the seasons (and time) are changing as God so wills it. The only thing that seems to be constant is that there is always change. But as Christians, we do not worry-or at least we should not. God is in control we are not.
The Biblical book of Ecclesiastes is a favorite of mine. It is down to earth and written for real time application-right now. Ecclesiastes 3 is a favorite chapter and very well known. The rock group The Byrds did a song about it back in the 1960's. I remember it well. Reread it if you don’t remember it. That chapter speaks of a “time for everything”. There a “time to be born and a time to die”. There is a “time to tear and a time to mend” and so on. Later on in verse 15 it states: “Whatever is has already been, and what will be has been before and God calls back the past.”

In other words there is not much new under the sun. I have often imagined what it would be like to have been alive during the Civil War. It must have been awful. Who do you trust? Families were divided amongst themselves. There's political and racial unrest. Food shortages were prevalent. Infant mortality was high. An infection would easily kill you. Life was cheap. Sound familiar? Our present confusion, uncertainty, fear and strife will pass-just as the seasons are changing now. Ecclesiastes 3:4 says there is a “time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.” I don’t know about you but I am ready to laugh and dance. It is coming. Count on it.

Youth & Children's Ministry
Help Celebrate September Birthdays!s!

Looking for something meaningful to do during the month of September? Consider making and mailing cards to those at the Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home located in Denton. A simple card is so meaningful to these kids.
Coming Soon!

We are all missing several things the way things were. The Christian Education Team has heard families request for more Sunday School options for Kids. Starting the Month of September, we will be offering a weekly video lead by many people from our Lake Highlands Presbyterian congregation. Our first series will be on The Beatitudes. We look forward to offering ways for you to learn as a family!
Save The Date: World Communion Day

On October 4th we will celebrate World Communion Sunday, joining in Holy Communion with those around the world. To celebrate our church family coming together for this Sunday, we are creating a table cloth to use on the communion table that Sunday.
How can you help us? Find your favorite piece of fabric, it can be anything from superheroes to flowers, cut out this pattern from it and return your fabric to the church the week of September 27th. More information on drop off will be available in the following September E blasts.

Family Corner
At this point of 2020, families have spent a lot of time together. Some of this time will be cherished forever, some of it might be spent wondering what to ask or do together. You are invited to utilize these cards to start new and exciting conversations.
Member Announcements
Missy and Mike Rodgers are pleased to announce the marriage of their son (grandson of Ralph & Jan Gifford), Evan Rodgers to Mali Macmullen, on Saturday, August 1, 2020.
