Once a Yellowjacket, Always a Yellowjacket

Vol. 1 No. 2

SECOND QUARTER 2022

Here's the Latest Buzz

The Lebanon High School Alumni Association has been busy since our last newsletter!

Read all about the Cornerstone and Flag Dedication Ceremony we hosted in May.

Don't forget to mark your calendars with our upcoming events.

Phase I of the Alumni Plaza is nearly complete. After a successful brick campaign earlier this month, we will have just a few spaces left for bricks in Phase 1. So if you haven't ordered an engraved brick yet...better hurry! You don't want to be left out of Phase 1.

LHS Homecoming is September 30th. We hear of several classes holding their class reunions that weekend. What a great time to meet at the Alumni Plaza for a fun get together Friday night before the big game. Read on for more information about Homecoming at the Plaza and our Annual Meeting.

We hope you enjoy this issue of the LHS Alumni Newsletter.

In addition to our website and Facebook page (Lebanon High School Alumni Association), this newsletter is another way to keep our members and donors up to date on all things Alumni. If you have things you'd like us to include in future newsletters,

please let us know!

Cornerstone And Flags Dedicated

LHS Alumni, friends of Lebanon Schools and many community members attended the Cornerstone and Flags Dedication at the Alumni Plaza on May 7th. Masons Grand Lodge of Missouri A.F. & A. M. performed the ceremony. (The cornerstone for the Alumni Plaza has been on order since September 2021 when the Plaza was dedicated. However it has not shipped.  The stone will be physically placed as soon as it arrives.)

Cornerstones are a tradition of Lebanon schools.

At the time of initial construction of the Adams, Washington, Wallace and Rainey buildings, the Lodge placed a cornerstone in each of the buildings on the campus.  As is the custom, the Lodge then removed the cornerstones when the buildings were demolished. Three of the original cornerstones will be be returned to the site and placed around the Alumni Plaza in Phase 2.  These cornerstones will continue to be used to document the history of Lebanon Public Schools.

The flag pole at the Plaza was then dedicated in memory of Bonnie (Holman) Hudson, Class of 1962, who passed away the day before our 150th Celebration last fall. Her memorial made this possible. The American flag - the symbol of the Country Bonnie loved - and the Yellow Jacket flag -a reminder of Bonnie's love for Jacket Nation - were raised by the Hudson family as a fitting tribute and lasting memorial to Bonnie.

The Ozarks Mountain Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution were also part of the day's program. They presented a Flag Certificate to the LHS Alumni Association followed by a patriotic medley performed by The New Horizons, proud LHS alumni.

It was a great day to be a Yellowjacket.

Here We Grow.

We want to expand and enhance our Alumni presence on the campus where the Adams, Washington, Wallace and Rainey Buildings and the old High School/Junior High once stood.

Perhaps a shelter house or gazebo with picnic tables? Benches donated by classes? A Yellowjacket sculpture?

PLEASE LET US KNOW YOUR IDEAS.
