Walk, Bike, Roll to Linden Hills to Support Local Businesses
We are entering the third week of Walk, Bike, Roll to Linden Hills — an effort to encourage non-car activity into and out of the 43rd & Upton intersection. From now through July 10, fill out this form when you head to the construction zone and you could win gift cards to your favorite spots including Rosalia, Everett and Charlie, Heartfelt, CoPilot Dog Outfitters, and Coffee and Tea Ltd.
And remember, keep entering even if you don't win on your first try! The grand prize giveaway on July 10 is a brand-new bike, donated by New Gild Jewelers and Linden Hills Bike Shop.

Trolley Path Naturescape Expansion Proposal | LHiNC held a community meeting on Monday, May 6 to discuss a proposed expansion of the Trolley Path Naturescape, between Abbott and Zenith Avenues (behind Wooden Ship Brewery and the other businesses on that block). | Playground Updates Delayed | |
Unfortunately, the installation of new monkey bars and a playhouse at Linden Hills Park has been delayed to October 2024.
This project is the first of its kind between MPRB and a neighborhood association, and there have been unexpected roadblocks along the way but the equipment has been ordered. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

LHiNC organized the Linden Hills Neighborhood Garage Sale on Saturday, May 11. This year, 73 garage sales, 21 Buy Nothing free sales, and 5 special events or retails sales registered. This includes our first-ever group garage sale location at Linden Hills Park – an idea put forward by resident Linda Picone to allow folks who live in multi-family housing to host a sale. |

LHiNC partnered with resident Lauren Truesdale in organizing an Earth Day Clean-Up at Linden Hills Park on Saturday, April 20. In addition to cleaning up the park and surrounding area, the event included a storytime with Jessica Voss from the Linden Hills Library.

LHiNC board member Noe Abrams organized the Linden Hills Blood Drive on Friday, April 19. Thank you to the 50 people who filled all of the slots, helping to get blood to patients who desperately need it.

Are there any opportunities to clean garbage out of Lake Harriet? | |

Yes! The Lake Harriet Environment Council (LHEC) is organizing an in-water cleanup of Lake Harriet on Saturday, June 15. The cleanup will start at 9:00 a.m. at the Lake Harriet South Beach. No need to sign up!
LHEC will supply trash bags, gloves, and a few grabbers. Participants should come prepared to wade near the banks – shoes that can get wet will be important.
LHEC is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization formed by Southwest Minneapolis neighbors to restore, protect and enhance the natural environment and facilities around Lake Harriet. LHEC relies on volunteers and charitable donations to advance its work.

The Minnesota Streetcar Museum's Como-Harriet Streetcar Line will run five days a week beginning Memorial Day weekend
Streetcars will run from 12:30-8:30pm on weekends and holidays, 1-4pm on Wednesdays and Fridays, and 6:30-8:30pm on Wednesdays-Fridays. View all summer hours and special events at trolleyride.org.
If you're headed to Lakewood Cemetery's Memorial Day activities, avoid the parking and traffic woes by taking the streetcar instead! Service starts at 9:30am and continues until 8:30pm.
Lastly, expect a little construction around the Linden Hills station this summer. The old 1914 concrete platform has been fully restored and the next step is to build a partial replica of the 1914 canopy to shelter passengers and volunteers from the sun.

The Lake Harriet Bandshell area will host a Park Market every Sun, 2-7pm from 6/2 to 8/4. If you or someone you know would like to be a vendor at one of these markets, there are still some spots left! To apply, go to the Minneapolis Park Markets page.

Thu, 6/5 at 5p: Everett & Charlie 6th Anniversary Party & Fundraiser
Everett & Charlie Art Gallery owner and curator Suzie Marty is celebrating the gallery’s 6th year by hosting a fundraiser to support the business and the more than 50 local artists she represents.
The event will take place on Thu, 6/5 from 5-9pm at the event space above Everett & Charlie and Wild Rumpus, and will feature live music, a silent auction, guest artists, food and beverages. Entrance fee is $20.

Fri, 6/7: Linden Hills Chamber Orchestra (LHCO) free pops concert at 7:30pm at the Lake Harriet Bandshell. The program includes music from popular movies such as Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean as well as popular classics such as Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man and Offenbach's Overture to Orpheus in the Underworld.

Updates from the Linden Hills Library
Upcoming closures: Linden Hills Library will be closed Mon, 5/27 for Memorial Day & Wed, 6/19 for Juneteenth.
Are you a teen, age 14-18, looking for a volunteer experience this summer? The Linden Hills Library has opportunities available. Volunteer sessions would be 1-2 hours weekly through the summer, depending on your schedule. Tasks might include: handling library materials, helping younger kids with the Summer Reading Program projects, participating in Teen programs, or sharing your opinions regarding our services for Teens. We’d be happy to confirm your participation in the program for organization credits, if needed. If interested, pick up an application in person for you and your parents or guardians to complete.
Family Storytimes: Wed, 5/15 & 5/22 at 10am & 11am
For children of all ages and their caregivers. Talk, sing, read, write and play together.
Baby Storytimes: Fri, 5/17 & 5/24 at 10a & 11a
For children from birth to 24 months and their caregivers. Share books, stories, rhymes, music and movement in a format especially designed for babies.
