NAR’s rental assistance information includes a new tool by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that allows renters and housing providers to find information on assistance for rent, utilities, and other housing costs in their area. NYS HERO Act Reminder
Reminder - Under the New York HERO Act, all employers must have a written airborne infection disease exposure plan in place by Thursday, August 5, 2021. The New York Health and Essential Rights Act (New York HERO Act) was signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of the New York HERO Act is to protect employees against exposure and disease during a future airborne infectious disease outbreak. LIBOR Names 2021 REALTOR® Scouting Scholarship Award Recipients
LIBOR is proud to announce the recipients of the 2021 REALTOR® Scouting Scholarship Award. Through this annual program, six $1,000 merit-based scholarships are awarded to three New York Eagle Scouts and three New York Gold Girl Scouts who are in the graduating class of that respective year. Eagle Scout and Gold Girl Scout are the highest rank and achievement attainable in the Scouting programs of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and the Girl Scouts of the USA. Take a CORE Course with LIBOR!
ALL licensees needing to renew their sales, associate broker or brokers license, must complete 22.5 hours of NYS CE credit before the expiration date on their license. CDC Extends Eviction Ban
On Tuesday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a new eviction moratorium that would last until October 3rd. As of now, New York State’s Eviction Moratorium ends on August 31st and there has been no announcement on if that will be extended. Northport Oyster FLUPSY Officially Dedicated
In 2019, REALTORS® utilized grant funds from NAR to help the Village of Northport build an Oyster FLUPSY (floating upweller system) that will help preserve the oyster population and help to clean the water ways in Northport Harbor. NYSAR Calls on Governor to End Cold Call Ban
Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently issued another State of Emergency in New York State due to gun violence. As a result of being under a State of Emergency, licensees are again prohibited from making any cold calls. NYSAR sees no connection between acting to curb gun violence and the legitimate business practice of cold calling. NYSAR has launched a Call for Action asking the governor and state Legislature to lift the ban on cold calling now and decouple the statutory restrictions on cold calling as it relates to States of Emergency. Take Action now!

State Rent Relief Program Streamlined; REALTORS® Successfully Urge Action
On July 21, NYSAR called on Gov. Andrew Cuomo to direct all resources necessary so that the the delay in sending aid to renters and landlords could end immediately. NYSAR also issued a Call for Action where hundreds of REALTORS® responded urging the governor to release the aid immediately. On July 26, the governor announced a more streamlined application process for the rent relief program would be put into place to get funds out the door. More information here.
