In Memoriam – Claire Shulman
It is with great sadness that we share the news that former Queens Borough President Claire Shulman passed away on Sunday. Serving as Borough President from 1986-2002, she was a towering figure in the history of Queens and of
Long Island City, and beloved by so many. Here are a few of her obituaries, and we will share more information on tributes as it becomes available.
COVID-19 Updates
Gyms & Health Clubs Can Reopen in NYS – This afternoon, Governor Cuomo revealed guidelines for reopening gyms and health clubs. These businesses can reopen as early as August 24th at 33% capacity but localities – e.g. NYC – have until September 2nd to determine whether or not to reopen them. These guidelines indicate that HVAC systems must meet NYS standards, masks are worn at all times, and local health authorities are required to inspect gyms before they open or within two weeks of when they open to make sure they are fulfilling all these requirements. We will continue to provide update on this as more information is available.

Reopening Checklist - Our COVID-19: Reopening Checklist is a tool for businesses to use as NYC continues reopening. This list is helpful for businesses open in Phase 1, 2 and 3 as well as businesses prepping for their reopening in a future phase. There are important forms to fill out prior to reopening and this checklist will help cover your bases. Click here to download the checklist.

Recovery Survey - We would like to remind you to please take COVID-19 Business Recovery Survey to help us get a further understanding of how your business or organization’s recovery efforts and the challenges you anticipate facing as we begin to reopen LIC. Click here to fill out the survey.
