Welcome Queens Borough President Donovan Richards
We would like to congratulate and welcome the new Queens Borough President Donovan Richards. He was inaugurated this past Sunday, December 6. Queens Borough President Richards is a lifelong resident of Southeast Queens who has served on the City Council for the 31st District since 2013.

We look forward to working with him and his team further!

Deadline Extended! Holiday Decoration Competition
This holiday season we are hosting a Holiday Decoration Competition for LIC businesses! The competition will run from through the end of December. The public will vote by scanning a QR code at your location and selecting their favorite display to vote for.

Remix Market NYC has generously offered a 30% discount to participating businesses to purchase any decorations they would like to use in the competition. To use this discount, let us know and stay tuned for additional details.

Participating businesses and those voting will be entered into a raffle to win 2 roundtrip JetBlue tickets.

QEDC 'Meet the Founders'
Thursday, December 10 7pm-8:30pm

The LICP Member Queens Economic Development Corporation's (QEDC) business course is coming to an end this week and they are hosting a "Meet the New Founders" virtually to help promote the students and their new products and services. 

The students will be divided into three panels based on their industry - Service (construction/ consulting/ transportation), food (manufacturing, catering, personal chef), and innovative product (patented device, retail goods and online scavenger hunt). Each panel has their own unique experience based on industry challenges.
NY Sick Leave Webinar

Next Tuesday, LICP Member Fisher Phillips is hosting a webinar on the new New York paid sick leave requirement for businesses that will go into effect on January 1st.

Fisher Phillips attorneys Melissa Camire and Seth Kaufman, partners in the firm's Manhattan office, will review employers’ obligations under the impending New York State paid sick leave law, provide guidance for implementation and answer your questions about the new law. 

Queensboro Dance Festival Holiday Series this Weekend!
This weekend join LICP Member Queensboro Dance Festival on Instagram Live @queensborodancefestival this weekend, December 12 & 13, 4-7pm for an awesome series of Queens dancers who will share their cultural dance traditions during the holidays, including presentations and dance classes.

They recommend watching out for two levels of advisories: Winter Operations Advisory and Snow Alert. Click here to learn more and stay informed.

*NEW* Applications Open for the Strategic Impact COVID-19 Commercial District Support Grant - The Strategic Impact COVID-19 Commercial District Support Grant will provide funding to community-based development organizations (CBDOs) to implement local COVID-19 recovery support to small businesses. The Queens neighborhoods eligible for this grant are: Briarwood, Corona, Jamaica, Queensbridge, and the Rockaways.
