Con Edison Free Natural Gas Detector Installation
Con Edison is currently offering a complimentary installation of natural gas detectors as part of a proactive initiative to enhance gas safety in the community. This program is for all buildings with a gas connection and is designed to protect your residents, functioning similarly to smoke or carbon monoxide detectors. The benefits of these detectors include early detection of gas before it becomes a threat to humans, triggering an alarm that automatically notifies Con Edison. The installation process is swift, typically taking less than 15 minutes, and there is no cost to you.
In the event of a potential gas leak, the detector will sound a loud alarm, accompanied by a verbal warning, instructing evacuation and a call to 911. Simultaneously, an alert is sent to Con Edison, prompting a rapid response and investigation by both Con Edison and the Fire Department.
Schedule an installation by calling 1-800-643-1289 (select option 4) or emailing NaturalGasDetectors@conEd.com. For More Information, visit conEd.com/NaturalGasDetector.

DSNY: All Businesses Must Containerize Their Trash
REMINDER: Starting March 1, 2024, the New York City Department of Sanitation requires that all businesses in NYC must use bins with secure lids when setting out trash for collection. This new rule is an important step in keeping our streets clean. This rule applies to any business in New York City, regardless of what is sold. Any perishable material (trash or organic material) must be in a bin with a secure lid when set out on the curb for collection. This requirement does not apply to businesses that have waste collected from a loading dock.
Store bins inside or outside: Bins should be stored inside or in a rear yard if possible. If space is not available, bins can be stored within three (3) feet of the building line when not set out for collection. Bins must be maintained in a neat and orderly manner and always allow for a clear path of pedestrian travel on the sidewalk.
