VOREA's Salute to the Voices (and Votes) of Women
LICP Member The VOREA Group has commissioned two large format art murals by the street artist Captain Eyeliner to commemorate the centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment.

The murals stand atop two large 20-foot shipping containers and show the faces of 10 amazing American women who had a hand in shaping history. Each portrait also has a unique QR code you can scan and find out more about the women.

Queens College Fall Virtual Career Fair - Tomorrow!
Queens College is looking for companies to participate in their Virtual Career Fair tomorrow for students interested in careers in Business and Technology.

LaGuardia Airtrain: Submit Your Support Through Oct. 20
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has released the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the proposed LaGuardia Airport Access Improvement Project (AirTrain). The proposed project would include passenger stations at LaGuardia Airport that would connect with the New York City subway system and the Long Island Railroad at Willets Point.

The 45-day public comment period that ends on October 5 has been extended to October 20 at 5pm.

Completing the Census is one thing every New Yorker can do to make sure New York has the resources it needs and the representation we deserve for the next 10 years.

NYC’s uncounted households will begin to receive a knock on the door by Census Bureau enumerators.

COVID-19 Updates
*NEW* Outdoor Dining Winterization Grant – DoorDash will offer NYC restaurants a grant of up to $5,000 to get heating equipment and other fixes for winter months. The application of the grant will open on October 16, and it will be managed by Hello Alice. For more information, please visit this link.

*NEW* Simpler PPP Forgiveness for Loans of $50,000 or Less – The SBA and Treasury is allowing businesses who received $50,000 or less in PPP funds to self-certify they used the money appropriately and receive complete forgiveness. *NEW* New NYC Webpage with Business Reopening Information – The NYC Department of Small Business Services launched a new webpage to help businesses access all the guidelines and information on reopening their business. To see the full webpage, please visit this link

LISC NYC Small Business Relief & Recovery Fund – This Fund will provide direct grants of $10,000 to New York City minority-owned small businesses that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to support their recovery. Awardees can use funds for payroll, rent, marketing, overhead, cost of technology, employee training, or related costs. Businesses applying for funds must meet these requirements:
  • Located in New York City
  • Minority-owned
  • Have 20 or fewer employees
  • Have an annual revenue of less than $500,000.
