LIC Springs Back Together!
This past weekend, from October 3-5, LIC Springs Back combined small in-person events throughout Long Island City with virtual offerings, promotions, and over 3 days of festivities. We showcased #LICLocal businesses and organizations through their fun, creative, and innovative activities that were experienced safely by groups of all ages.

Many thanks to all of our participants, especially to Council Member Van Bramer and our event partners i2Print, LinkNYC, Lyft, Neuman's Kitchen, NYC Ferry, and Revel.
Indoor/Outdoor Dining Town Call
The NYC Office of Nightlife is hosting a virtual town call on October 8th at 12pm for business owners to get information and resources, and ask questions about new indoor dining rules and changes related to the extension of Open Restaurants.

What You Need to Know About COVID-19 Latest Updates in Local Rules and Regulations
On Tuesday, October 6th the Queens Chamber of Commerce will host a discussion on business guidelines and programs during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic with Commissioner Lorelei Salas of the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection. The commissioner and representatives of DCWP will go over important guidelines and requirements that may affect local business and individuals.

LaGuardia Airtrain: Deadline Extended to Submit Your Support
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has released the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the proposed LaGuardia Airport Access Improvement Project (AirTrain). The proposed project would include passenger stations at LaGuardia Airport that would connect with the New York City subway system and the Long Island Railroad at Willets Point.

The 45-day public comment period that ends on October 5 has been extended to October 20 at 5pm.

Women Entrepreneurship 2020 - Change Leaders: Women Recalibrating the Future
To empower the futures of women in entrepreneurship and business, Berkeley College, in partnership with City & State New York, will host a special event that includes discussions with prominent leaders in business, government and media.

LIC Partnership's President, Elizabeth Lusskin will be speaking on the Reclaiming New York City panel.

Deadline Extended! Take the 2020 Census
Completing the Census is one thing every New Yorker can do to make sure New York has the resources it needs and the representation we deserve for the next 10 years.

NYC’s uncounted households will begin to receive a knock on the door by Census Bureau enumerators.

COVID-19 Updates
*New* NYS Launches COVID Alert NY App – COVID Alert NY is the official New York Exposure Notification System app created by the NYS Department of Health in partnership with Google and Apple. The free smartphone app is available for download on the Google Play and App Store. After installing the app, you will be able to use your smartphone to help fight against COVID-19 and get exposure alerts, without compromising your privacy or personal information. Mayor Releases Additional Details on Year-Round Outdoor Dining - This week the Mayor released new details on year-round outdoor dining. Information includes details on adjacent properties, heating, tents, and roadway safety. Click here to read the release.

LISC NYC Small Business Relief & Recovery Fund – This Fund will provide direct grants of $10,000 to New York City minority-owned small businesses that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to support their recovery. Awardees can use funds for payroll, rent, marketing, overhead, cost of technology, employee training, or related costs. Businesses applying for funds must meet these requirements:
  • Located in New York City
  • Minority-owned
  • Have 20 or fewer employees
  • Have an annual revenue of less than $500,000.
