My name is Christopher Ward and I am the Used Car Manager at Robson Toyota here in Jackson. I was a member of another gym then moved my membership to LIFT during peak of Covid-19 because LIFT has plenty of space for people to social distance and it was the cleanest facility I had ever experienced. I witness staff cleaning the machines every few minutes it seems.
I have always been in physical shape but I joined LIFT to maintain my physical physique and help my mental health before a busy workday. Working out also encourages me to eat healthier and drink more water.
The staff at LIFT have been amazing from the personal trainers to the front desk staff, everyone is super friendly. The front desk is always energetic and know me by name. This makes for a pleasant, enjoyable experience especially early in the mornings before 7 am!

At LIFT Wellness Center, we are continuing to take extra precautionary measures to keep you safe! We are wearing masks, sanitizing surfaces, and have recently had an AirPHX unit installed at LIFT Wellness Center.

·We are continuing temperature checks for all members and employees
· The member pledge is still in effect! Our members are wiping down their equipment before and after use, maintaining physical distancing of at least 6 feet, and staying home if they don’t feel well
· The front desk staff are making regular announcements reminding members to distance and wipe down the equipment
· We have added more sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizing stations throughout the facility
· Group exercise classes continue to be physically distanced and all equipment is sanitized before and after class
·The pools are open- the water in each of our pools is sanitized through proper chemical maintenance that is checked multiple times per day AND through a state of the art UV sanitization system- COVID-19 cannot live in those conditions
·Virtual and outdoor classes have been added to the group exercise schedule
·The sauna and steam rooms are OPEN- restricted to one member at a time
·Cardio equipment is spaced to allow for physical distancing

The Koss's

INGREDIENTS
DIRECTIONS
1. Heat Mushroom Risotto Entree as directed on package. Make Multigrain Hot Cereal as directed on package.
2. In a bowl, mix Risotto and Cereal together. Add one packet of dry HMR 500 Chicken Soup mix and Bell's Seasoning.
3. Spray a baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and then spread mixture into pan.
4. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.

Darren Crozier
Darren Crozier is the Membership and Retention Coordinator here at LIFT Wellness. Darren is originally from Florida but moved to Tennessee when his family moved with his father’s job. Before joining the team in August, Darren worked at Walmart as CAP Team Supervisor where he led a 72 man team.
Darren is currently studying Political Science at Jackson State Community College and plans to enlist in the United State Marine Corps and go to Officer Candidate School once he completes his Bachelor’s degree.
Darren loves working at LIFT because he enjoys meeting new people and talking with them about how they can reach their health and fitness goals. He is very passionate about health and wellness and often leads through the inspiration of David Goggins.
His office door is always open if you have questions about membership or just want to chat about anything and everything from football to fitness to military operations.

The shortened days of winter seem to have hit a little harder this year, and with the early darkness and cold come changes in eating habits. Dehydration, decreased fruit and vegetable intake, and holiday party treats are all common occurrences once December rolls around. Here are some dietary changes you can focus on this month that may help fight off the winter time blues!
Although a cold refreshing glass of water may not seem as appealing when the temperature drops, hydration is still incredibly important in the winter. To help warm you up while also meeting your hydration needs, you can add broth based soups to your dinner rotation, add lemon to hot water, or sip on some hot tea!
The cost of fresh fruits and vegetables tend to increase as those summer time favorites go out of season, but that doesn’t mean you should stop buying them! Berries, peppers, and so much more are offered (typically at a lower cost) in the frozen aisle and are still packed with nutrition. If you are a stickler for fresh foods, buying foods that are in season can help keep your costs low. Citrus fruits, grapes and cranberries are all seasonal favorites, while carrots, squash and mushrooms can help round out the meal. If you are feeling adventurous, try pomegranate seeds! Don’t worry, here are step by step instructions on how to get to the seeds.
Though I am a fan of holiday parties and the treats they often include, overindulging can have an impact on your weight and fitness goals. Add on the fact that physical activity typically decreases with the colder and shorter days, and we can see undesirable weight gain. To try and counter this, focus on sticking to smaller portions and really savoring each bite (or sip), and find an activity that you enjoy that will keep you wanting to get up and get moving!
This recipe for Pinto Bean Soup is a broth based soup that can help with hydration, add in some vegetables, and is easy and flexible so you can use whatever you have in the house!

Pinto Bean Soup
- 1 can pinto beans (can exchange for any beans on hand)
- 1 32oz carton low sodium broth (chicken, beef, or vegetable broth acceptable)
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 small yellow onion
- 2-3 celery stalks
- 1 tsp cumin
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp rosemary

Directions:
Add all ingredients to a large pot. Simmer ingredients in a covered pot until beans are tender.
Don’t be afraid to mix up the spices or other ingredients! I added some leftover turkey and egg noodles to this batch.
