Mabel Womack

Mabel has been an active wellness enthusiast for most of her life. She joined LIFT Wellness Center in October 2012. Since then she has been able to stay very limber and continue her exercise journey. She also accredits working out at LIFT Wellness to one of the main reasons she can stay active today at the age of 102! Her fitness journey started in 1922, in the Gulf of Mexico, when she was only 5 years old. This is where she learned to swim, and has since swam a mile a day for 5 days every week!

Mabel was a school teacher for 44 years and throughout that time she taught in Tennessee, Arkansas, Colorado, and California. She has also visited over 75 different countries, and was finally able to visit Hawaii on her 90th birthday! A feat she accredits to her active lifestyle and healthy living habits! When asked about using the gym during the turbulent season, Mabel stated, “I fully trust the changes LIFT Wellness has implemented into keeping the gym extremely comfortable and clean.”

At LIFT Wellness Center, we are continuing to take extra precautionary measures to keep you safe! We are wearing masks, sanitizing surfaces, and have recently had an AirPHX unit installed at LIFT Wellness Center.

·We are continuing temperature checks for all members and employees

· The member pledge is still in effect! Our members are wiping down their equipment before and after use, maintaining physical distancing of at least 6 feet, and staying home if they don’t feel well

· The front desk staff are making regular announcements reminding members to distance and wipe down the equipment

· We have added more sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizing stations throughout the facility

·We are disinfecting all equipment at least twice per day using the Clorox 360 sanitization system.

· Group exercise classes continue to be physically distanced and all equipment is sanitized before and after class

·The pools are open- the water in each of our pools is sanitized through proper chemical maintenance that is checked multiple times per day AND through a state of the art UV sanitization system- COVID-19 cannot live in those conditions

·Virtual and outdoor classes have been added to the group exercise schedule

·The sauna and steam rooms are OPEN- restricted to one member at a time

·Cardio equipment is spaced to allow for physical distancing

We are so excited to have many of you back and anxiously awaiting the return of those who haven’t made it back yet.

Andrea Lindsey

Andrea is the Health Educator for LIFT Weight Management. Andrea graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin. She majored in Family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in Nutrition and Dietetics. Andrea enjoys spending time with friends and family and being outdoors. She has a passion for helping people live healthier lives!

Andrea is very dedicated to the patients in the HMR Program and helping them achieve fast effective weight loss! She is an outstanding Health Coach and goes above and beyond her duties to make sure every person who joins LIFT Weight Management is as successful as possible.

Happy New Year!

Although most people want to shut the door on the year that was 2020, I ask that you use the start of this year to reflect on the good and the bad of this past year. For many, this past year has brought loss, clarity, and even a change in priorities. Whatever 2020 brought you, the new year brings an opportunity to really focus on making some changes in your life in the form of a New Years' resolution!

The most common resolutions tend to be “lose weight,” “get healthier,” or “save more money.” Though these are all wonderful ideas, they are vague which can make it difficult to stick to. If you make them specific (lose __ pounds, save $__ each month) then you are more likely to achieve them.

Another way you can increase your likelihood of sticking to your resolution is to make a plan for your success. Break your goal down into smaller steps and keep track of your progress. You can also brainstorm what challenges you think will come up and think of ways to stick to your plan. Maybe there is a special dinner or an office party that is coming up and your resolution it to eat healthfully. You can look at the menu ahead of time and decide what meal fits your goals or you can bring a food item that you know you can eat and enjoy! Although you can’t plan for everything, having some ideas of how to tackle a challenge will help you be more prepared for when unexpected challenges come up.

No matter if you are struggling or succeeding with your resolution, it is recommended to check-in and reflect on what is working and what isn’t. If one of your steps for weight loss is to go to the gym at 5 am before work but you don’t find yourself making it there, then maybe there is another time that would work better! You may also be more successful by focusing on one resolution instead of dividing your energy into many changes in your life.
Pear Pomegranate Salad
This salad is a great way to lighten up some of those heavy winter meals as a side, or a lighter lunch option! Pair it with a vinaigrette dressing, or you can make your own!

Salad
  • Mixed greens
  • Pear Slices
  • Pomegranate seeds

  • Red onion
  • Blue cheese, goat cheese, or feta 
  • *Salt and pepper to taste

Dressing
  • 1/3 cup Olive oil
  • 1 tbsp White wine vinegar 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 clove Minced garlic
  • 2 tsp maple syrup or honey
