LIFT Wellness Center has achieved its first recertification by the Medical Fitness Association, the country’s leading organization dedicated solely to medically integrated wellness and fitness facilities. This certification represents a significant step forward in improving the health of the entire community and to individuals seeking to take responsibility for their personal health.

This program is the first and only certification offered specifically to facilities in the medical fitness industry—an industry that serves over four million members worldwide. Based on the Medical Fitness Association’s internationally recognized Standards and Guidelines for Medical Fitness Facilities, the certification process involves an in-depth, on-site review of a facility’s adherence to a set of prescribed standards and guidelines. The certification process is an integral part of ensuring that facilities provide a high level of quality and safety in the programs and services they deliver in order for them to become fully integrated into the local continuum of healthcare. The Medical Fitness Association Facility Certification is recognized as a mark of excellence in the health and wellness industry.

At LIFT Wellness Center, we are continuing to take extra precautionary measures to keep you safe! We are wearing masks, sanitizing surfaces, and have recently had an AirPHX unit installed at LIFT Wellness Center.

· The member pledge is still in effect! Our members are wiping down their equipment before and after use, maintaining physical distancing of at least 6 feet, and staying home if they don’t feel well
· The front desk staff are making regular announcements reminding members to distance and wipe down the equipment
· We have added more sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizing stations throughout the facility
· Group exercise classes continue to be physically distanced and all equipment is sanitized before and after class
·The pools are open- the water in each of our pools is sanitized through proper chemical maintenance that is checked multiple times per day AND through a state of the art UV sanitization system- COVID-19 cannot live in those conditions
·Virtual and outdoor classes have been added to the group exercise schedule
·The sauna and steam rooms are OPEN- restricted to one member at a time
·Cardio equipment is spaced to allow for physical distancing

Stroganoff Green Bean Casserole

INGREDIENTS
- 1 HMR Beef Stroganoff with Noodles Entree
- 1 HMR 500 Chicken Soup
- 1 15 oz. can French Style Green Beans
DIRECTIONS
- Drain green beans, combine chicken soup packet with wet green beans in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Add Beef Stroganoff entree, add water if needed to mix thoroughly.
- Microwave for 90 seconds, stir and cook an additional 2 minutes until caramelized on top.

WHY FAST WEIGHT LOSS WORKS

Five Lessons in Mindful Eating- Part 2
Over the next few months, we will continue exploring mindful eating with a new focus each month. If you followed along last month with our mindful eating lesson on “Just Focusing on the Food”, then you may have found that your mealtimes are full of distraction and it can be really hard to break away from that! Maybe you noticed some foods either aren’t as tasty as you thought they were or you found a new favorite! Now we are going to use some of the things we learned from last month to help with this month’s lesson, which is all about finding satisfying meals. Why is feeling satisfied so important?
Have you ever tried to “eat healthy” by only eating a salad or some plain chicken with broccoli? These foods can fill your stomach and give you the feeling of being full, but they likely don’t satisfy you. Being satisfied after a meal requires more than just filling your stomach with food. Focusing on meals that contain all three macronutrients (protein, carbohydrate, and fat) can help ensure you feel comfortably full but also leave you satisfied.
It doesn’t stop there though. Your satisfying meal can have protein, carb, and fat, but it also requires a little bit more. The meal should be flavorful, taste good, and maybe include a little bit of what sounds “good” to you right now. For example, if chips and salsa sound delicious, then you may want to incorporate that as a side with your next meal. By including the food that you really want, you satisfy the craving, increase your overall satisfaction with the meal, and are less likely to eat past your fullness cues. If you try to bury that craving deep down and ignore it you are at increased risk for overdoing it the next time that food presents itself.

Mexican Stuffed
Sweet Potato
Ingredients:
-
2 medium sweet potatoes
- 2 chicken breasts
- 1 10oz can tomatoes with green chiles
- 1 tbsp taco seasoning
- 1 avocado
- 1 jalapeno
- ½ cup cilantro
- ½ cup water
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 tsp white vinegar
- ½ tsp salt (optional)
- Optional garnishes: guacamole, jalapeno, sour cream, salsa, tomatoes, etc.
Place chicken, taco seasoning, and can of tomatoes with green chiles (with liquid) in a slow cooker. Cook on low for 6-8 hours, or high for 4-6 hours. When there is about 1-2 hours left, shred the chicken and let cook for the remaining time.
Using microwaveable sweet potatoes can be great if you are cooking for 1-2 people, otherwise it may be easier to bake in the oven. If baking, preheat oven to 400 degrees. Use a fork to make holes in the sweet potato, then bake for 40-45 minutes or until tender.
Combine avocado, jalapeno (remove seeds and stem), cilantro, water, garlic cloves, white vinegar, and salt in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth.
