Over the past few years, I have experienced several life-altering experiences, from cancer with multiple co-morbidities to extreme, muscle-wasting weight loss. I felt lost and, perhaps worse, weak. I had never been weak before and knew I needed to do something. I was not trying to capture the boundless energy and strength of my youth; I just wanted to be able to do a sit-up or walk up the stairs at pace without burning thighs and lungs.
I decided getting a personal trainer would be beneficial in reaching these goals because I knew I would not do anything without some skin in the game, mainly, someone to hold me accountable (I am nothing if not self-aware). Enter Ms. Megan Hedwall. At our initial meeting, I knew something was getting ready to happen! I told her what I wanted to accomplish, and she was up to the task. Over these few months, we have methodically and strategically attacked each area I had issues with, and I am actually seeing progress! The doors at work don’t seem as heavy, and the stairs are not as daunting! She has been patient with me when I had meltdown days and has the perfect balance of tough love and encouragement when I need it (which is often).
I feel my body changing, and I am gaining confidence and strength. I sometimes ask her why she won’t let me do easier things; she says stuff, but the point gets gotten ;)! I can’t do easier stuff, and I am super happy she won’t let me! Her extensive knowledge and skills let me know I am in good hands. She is truly an asset to The Lift specifically and West Tennessee Healthcare in general! I give her a 10 out of 10 and would recommend! We are starting to work on new goals (when it comes to balance, I am as shaky as a newborn calf…) while building on the old ones. She will undoubtedly put in the work, so I will, too! I love who I am becoming, and Megan is an integral part of that. I can’t wait to see what happens!
