ORANGE COUNTY KOREAN AMERICAN LIONS - RISE AGAINST HUNGER PROJECT
TIME CHANGE TO 1PM TO 5PM
Come join the Orange Country Korean American Lion's Club on January 12th (beginning 1pm) at Los Coyotes Country Club for a fun and meaningful afternoon of laughter, banging gongs, physical activity while packing 30,000 food packs to be sent to hungry children in 2025. OCKA Lion's Club is looking for about 120 volunteers to help pack the dry food so it can be shipped to feed hungry children in needy countries under the Food for Hunger campaign. Bring your spouses/partners, family members, children and friends. It is both a fun and meaningful activity and a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Please sign up on the link below so we have a headcount of people.

Lions,
Wishing you a Happy Holiday Season from your District 4L4 Global Service Team Chair, Mike Zozaya. As we approach the end of the year and our holiday gatherings with friends and family, it is a time to reflect on what was accomplished during the year. One accomplishment I would
like to highlight is the initiation of zone service projects. It is exciting to see the zone clubs joining hands in service through the first half of DG Scotty’s year. Zone and District service projects have received great support from all the clubs concluding this month with the Military
Support Bags project. A “job well done” to all involved.
As we take the time to reflect and look forward, we will start the New Year with “Rise for Hunger” with the OC Korean Lions Club. The District has allocated some of our LCIF Grant money to the cause to make it bigger than ever. With that added influx of money, we need more volunteers to step up and help produce the increased number of food packages. If you
are not attending the Melvin Jones Luncheon, please consider helping in this great cause. Sign up link in “The Wrap”.
The following week we have the Harbor-Mesa/Laguna Niguel Lions Clubs sponsored CLIFS vision screening at the Costa Mesa Senior Center on January 18. This event is expected to bring in 300 plus people for vision screening and glasses.
There are more projects to consider as the year progresses. Special Olympics will be holding their Spring Games in Irvine (May) and Summer Games at Long Beach State (June).
In conclusion, we Lions need to start thinking about how to attract more members through our service to our respective communities. Think about new collaborations with local municipalities, Chamber of Commerce, and non-profit service organizations. I have personally
experienced what a religious group can bring to the table in volunteers and vision in a joint venture with a city. It’s your club, your way. Each club has its own personality. If you need to toss around some ideas, please contact me.
A friendly reminder… report your service hours please.
Happy Holidays

Dear Fellow Lions:
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
Tis the season for merriment and giving thanks. I would like to give thanks to our District 4L4 Strike Force team for our most recent success. As the GET Coordinator it is my responsibility to research, identify, and coordinate the creation of new clubs. As of December 20th , 2024, a new Irvine Lions Club Branch has been established. They are extremely close in becoming a new club on their own. Irvine was an exceedingly difficult
nut to crack with many challenges we had to overcome. It took the whole team for this success, and I thank you.
Governor Scott had set a goal of creating one new club in our District during his term. We are within reach of attaining his objective. However, I am always looking for assistance in finding a few more Irvine residence(s) who might be a good fit for the club. Please call me directly if you have any leads.
Additionally, we are not going to stop at just one new club. Concurrently we are working on two other potential new clubs. There is nothing better than surpassing a goal.
I wish everyone a safe and prosperous holiday season.
