Hello Lions of 4L4,
I am extremely pleased about the past two district events!
First, I want to thank all Lions who attended in support of the Melvin Jones honorees. In addition, I would like to personally congratulate all the recipients of their awards. Hopefully, they understand that it is an honor to receive this award. Furthermore, I extend a sincere thanks to Lion Sean Arens for accepting the job of MC for this event as he kept everything flowing smoothly! Having an MC coupled with moving the photo area away from the recipient’s stage kept the day moving swiftly so we could leave in a timely manner, and I hope everybody appreciated it. If you did, please let your Vice-Governors know as they will be planning theirs very soon as well.
The recent wildfires that we experienced north of us were truly devastating, but with our help from our district we raised over 30k for both LCIF and CLF that will be donated to the California wildfire relief efforts. This was a heart-warming event for such a needy area. A warm thank you to all the clubs and people who donated to the tragic event. A number of our own California Lions and Leos were affected by the fires! Please keep an eye on the Rap for future opportunities to lend a helping hand to all affected communities. More than likely, we will have prompt posting as these service events might happen mid-week so keep an eye on your inbox.
As you know our Leos do a lot of good for their community along with helping serve alongside us at our own events. We need to start supporting them as they could potentially be a Lion working in any of our clubs. In March they will be holding a Dance to raise money for Canine Companions and I have tasked them to complete a joint fundraiser with the Lions of 4l4. Let us show our Leo’s that we can serve them as well as they serve us. Now, you ask what is in it for me? We have added extra points for the visitation to any club that attends one or all Leo’s events. Please see how our Lions of tomorrow are serving their communities today.
Calling all Lions that are looking to help build new clubs and rejuvenate others! In the next few months, we will be holding a Guiding Lions training session. This seminar will help our district grow by teaching an individual how to guide a club in their own growth into lionism. If this sounds like something you might enjoy doing, please Let Lion PCC Craig Duran know as we will be kicking this session off shortly.
Finally, I would love to just say a word of thanks to all of you for being such great Lions, you give so much of your time, treasure, and your talent to the surrounding communities and your district, it just amazes me. Thanks for selecting me as your DG.
Your Humble Servant Leader
