LISA Academy North High
Recognized for Top Growth in Arkansas
Great news! LISA Academy North High Charter has been recognized by the  Office for Education Policy (OEP)  at the University of Arkansas as a school where students demonstrated high growth on the ACT Aspire! As you may know, the OEP creates an annual report entitled the Outstanding Educational Performance Awards, and this year we are recognizing schools with high student growth. We think growth is the best indicator of the positive impact that your school is having on students.

LISA Academy North High Charter received the following awards:

Statewide High Overall Growth: High School Level
Statewide High Math Growth: High School Level
Statewide High ELA Growth: High School Level
High Overall Growth: High School Level (Central Region)
High Math Growth: High School Level (Central Region)
High ELA Growth: High School Level (Central Region)

Awards are based on the 2018 content growth score calculated by the Arkansas Department of Education. These growth scores reflect how much students at the school improved from 2017 compared to how much they were expected to grow considering prior achievement.

We are very proud of the hard work that our students and staff at LISA North did to achieve this amazing award! Way to go, Jaguars!

Solar Car Team Continues Improving Jig-Jag,
Support for Project Requested
The Solar Car Challenge is the top project-based STEM Initiative helping motivate students in Science, Engineering, and Alternative Energy. The SCC Education Program developed in 1993 as a high school extra-curricular program, and later evolved into the Solar Car Challenge Foundation. The Solar Car Challenge Education Program teaches high school students how to plan, design, engineer, build, and race roadworthy solar cars.

The high school students attending Lisa Academy North are currently constructing a solar car and will participate in the national competition in July of 2019. In fact, this is the only solar car in Arkansas that has qualified for the national competition in Dallas, Texas. Last year, our team burned their motor twice because of high temperature weather. They drove the car from Dallas to Arizona. The goal was to drive to California, but because of accident, they couldn't complete the race. This year, our new team members are designing the new solar car with upgrades. We have a total of nine team members, 4 girls and 5 boys. The team is getting support from Universities, experts and community members. The race event is a two week event, so our students need your help to raise money for their new solar car parts, tools, transportation and food. Please consider supporting our team. You can click this  LINK  to make a donation.

For more information, contact one of our team sponsors by email, at s andra@lisaacademy.org  or  osanlialp@lisaacademy.org  or  taras@lisaacademy.org . Any and all generosity is highly appreciated.
