Long Island Swimming Officials Association
Serving Long Island Swimmers and Divers since 1957
 March 2020
There were almost 50 officials working at the Boy's Swimming and Diving Championships from throughout the state! The LISOA contingent was more than half of those officials.

Sandy Searcy, the Director of Sports at the National Federation of State and High School Associations, was on deck at the Championships both days and at the end of the meet when I was thanking her, she said that she was most impressed with the professionalism of the officials. In her position, she travels all over the country and she said she has not seen the professionalism like she saw on display during that meet.

Much of that is due to the leadership of Meet Referee Paul McClintock and Meet Director Peter Hugo. And a lot is also because each of you are dedicated to your craft. That you strive to always be your best.

I was never more proud to represent our association. Thank you!

Thank you,
George Fleckenstein
President

FROM OUR 2020 NYS BOY'S CHAMPIONSHIP MEET REFEREE, PAUL McCLINTOCK

What a great meet we just completed - a perfect memory to leave LI with. All parties involved will hold this as the standard to compare future meets and facilities.

We couldn't have had as successful a series of championships in LI without the volunteerism, professionalism and dedication of the Long Island swimming officials!

Thank you so much for all of your hard work and dedication to the athletes and the sport once again in 2020.

Paul

What can I do to make it better?

Maybe that's the first thing people should ask themselves when they find themselves in a difficult situation.

Thank you Kerry Fallarino for the quick turn around for compiling the ALL-LONG ISLAND list and working through the night printing hundreds of copies for the county dinners!
We are considering holding a Golf Outing next spring (2021). Some of the money raised will go toward food, transportation and housing to each LISOA official attending the NY State Boy's Swimming & Diving Championship meet in Ithaca.

We will need at least ten foursomes - we have so far identified five. Please let me know if you are interested in playing and/or could field a foursome (friends, relatives, office/company).

Tentatively the cost would be $175.00 per golfer or $700.00 per foursome- which will include the greens fees, golf cart, driving range, balls and tees, closest to the pin and longest drive contests, full buffet dinner with open bar, prizes, raffles, and a 50/50!
