Geotechnical Borings Public Notice
As the design for the Louisiana International Terminal moves forward, you will begin to see more activity on the site within the coming months. A few weeks ago, we sent you an email regarding the necessary topographic surveys occurring on the project site. To view that email, click here.
This week, you will begin to see a Public Notice in local publications as Port NOLA requests authorization from the U.S. Army Corps to conduct a geotechnical borings to help study the project site's underground soil conditions.
The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will be accepting public comments on the project May 9 until June 8, 2022. To further review or provide comments, additional information and plans related to the proposal may be obtained at the following website (see Ref#: MVN-2021-00270-2-EG).
If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact Angelle Greer with the USACE, Regulatory Branch at (504) 862-2279 or [email protected].
Specifically, through the geotechnical borings we will be gathering information on underground soil conditions of the proposed project site. The borings and other tests will begin once appropriate permits are issued for these investigations, most likely in June 2022.
We will be sending a notice out detailing the geotechnical borings activity as we get closer to the assessments. Please note, these assessments are to better understand the existing conditions of the site, and do not signal construction.
