During the Pandemic
Our local businesses, including law firms, are feeling the devastating impact of the pandemic on our payrolls and our ability to pay operating expenses. Some firms are slashing pay and planning layoffs. 
This townhall will address options for economic help available under the CARES Act, including how CARES Act Paycheck Protection may help law firms with employee retention, staying open during the pandemic, and  supporting our communities.

Mira Mdivani is current KBA President. Mdivani heads the business Global Mobility and Corporate Immigration compliance practice at Mdivani Corporate Immigration Law Firm. Mdivani leads employers in technology, engineering, food processing, manufacturing, insurance, banking, and entertainment industries through intricacies of US business immigration law.  
Tom Bender , an attorney with Horn Aylward & Bandy LLC in Kansas City, is the 2019-20 president of The Missouri Bar. Bender graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law. He has served on the Board of Governors since 2011. He is a past president of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation. His practice focuses on civil litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
Natalie Haag  is General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Executive Vice President of Capitol Federal® Savings Bank. Prior to joining Capitol Federal she served as in-house counsel for Security Benefit Corporation in Topeka; General Counsel, Director of Governmental Affairs and Chief of Staff to Governor Bill Graves; Director of the State Gaming Agency;  and, Executive Director of the Board of Indigents Defense Services. Natalie’s practice also includes ten-years of criminal prosecution and civil litigation.  Natalie is a past President of the KBA and she currently serves as one of the Kansas Bar Association Delegates to the ABA House of Delegates. 
Jim McMullen is Partner at Royal Blue Capital where he advises management on business acquisitions and financing. Jim has served as COO and General Counsel with Jayhawk Capital Management, Vice President – Legal at YRC Worldwide, and practiced in the area of M@A, Securities, Corporate Finance and Private Equity with Weil Gotshal and Dentons. Before private practice, Jim clerked for Chief Judge Tacha on the 10 th  Circuit Court of Appeals.
