| | Click on the Picture for More Information | | I woke up this morning, rested, let the pups outside and felt the heat and humidity, and started to grumble and mumble. But I caught myself when I closed the door to my nice air conditioned home, the sunlight coming in, the peace and quiet. That’s when I consciously thought about livin’ lucky, despite the heat or any problems in life right now. My day brightened, and I made it a point to look for the bright and good things in life, as a whole, instead of picking my day into small balls of yucky stuff! It’s not always easy to concentrate on the luck that we have, and the lucky way we can live, and all the lucky things that we are faced with daily. But when I remember to do this, my days turn positive. I’m staring down the needle of shoulder replacement now, and that makes me cranky…I guess I thought I was invincible! But then I remember (at some point, anyway!) to turn it around and think how lucky I am that we can even fix a physical problem like that. A few years back, we just had to live with it. But not any more! Livin’ lucky. | | Click on the Picture for More Information | | We’re lucky to be able to make things for ourselves, for others, for charity, for family with our great machines, bright fabrics, creative ideas in the comfort of our air conditioned homes. Find a quilt in your home, and think about having to make that totally by hand, with flour sacks for fabric, and no A/C. UGH!!! For me, that would not be fun, but more like torture. Keep using what I had until it was totally thread-bare would have been my solution! But think of the opportunities staring at us everyday: what room can we chose to sew in, with what machine, do we have a fan blowing overhead plus the A/C, what pattern would be good and how can we alter it to make it more “ours”, will fabrics come from stash or from new and wonderful colors, what more skills can we learn at our favorite quilt shop (hopefully you’re thinking SVQ here!), what happens to it when we finish it?!?! | | Click on the Picture for More Information | | What if we’re looking to change up a machine…how does luck enter that decision?
