As a mother and mental health advocate, I am most concerned about the holistic well-being of our children.

According to research by the National Institute of Mental Healthhalf of all lifetime cases of mental illness begin by age 14. Unfortunately, even though we know how to treat many disorders, many children with mental health conditions are not getting the treatment they need. And, the stigma surrounding mental health conditions often deters our children from speaking out about their experiences and getting the help and support they need to recover and thrive.

I was thrilled to discover Poddar Foundation's Campus Diaries: Mission on Mental Health which empowered 100 youth across India in a poetry slam to share their stories to end the stigma surrounding mental illness and promote mental health awareness.

Anusha Ramji, featured in the article and video below is one of the brave voices.

I salute Anusha and Kevin, whose TED talk is featured below, and all our youth around the world who are sharing their stories of struggle and resilience to humanize mental health conditions, and give hope to others that they are not alone, and that they too can get well and live well.

Please use the link at the bottom of this email and share their message of hope and resilience with your family, friends, colleagues and clients.
Together, we can promote awareness that mental health conditions are part of the human experience. And, create a world of understanding, compassion and inclusion where every man, woman and child struggling with a mental health condition can find the love and support they need to create healthy, meaningful, productive lives.

Wishing you wellness ,

LIVING WELL by Anusha Ramji

I see wellness as a state of positive mental health and physical health. It is about working towards being the best version of myself, and finding ways to stay happy, come what may.

I use creative pursuits and innovation to direct adversity into a positive channel. I also constantly work on keeping in touch with my being, allocating time for self-care, understanding my emotions, and putting my needs first, always. I am my most important person.

Anusha is a 19-year-old, dr eamer, fashion designer, aspiring psychologist, poet, writer, blogger and mental health activist who was born and raised in California and currently lives in Bangalore, India.
Anusha's Message of Hope

Kevin Breel didn't look like a depressed kid: team captain, at every party, funny and confident. But he tells the story of the night he realized that - to save his own life - he needed to say four simple words.
