Enriching the Community We Love
February Newsletter
President's Message
It’s the time of the year for resolutions. If you’re like me and made a resolution to declutter your closets, attics, and garages, please save your gently used stuff for Flea Market/Auctionmania intake days held on March 4, 5, & 6 at the TLA parking lot. High value items collected during intake will be sold during Auctionmania, our on-line silent auction for all residents held on Tuesday, March 14. New this year the Salvation Army will have a drop box to accept clean, usable clothing. The Flea Market and Auctionmania are our 2 largest fundraisers with all proceeds going directly to the Landlovers Foundation.

Through the generosity and hard work of our members, Landlovers has given out more than $1.7 million in grants, scholarships, and merit awards. Our resolution is to continue to support our community by awarding Grants, Scholarships, and Community Service Merit Awards.

We award Grants to non-profit organizations for programs/projects and services that benefit residents of Skidaway Island. We are now accepting Grant Applications for this year. Applications can be found on the Landlovers website and are due NO LATER than March 21, 2023.

Landlovers Community Service Merit Awards recognize outstanding volunteer contributions by high-school juniors and seniors living at The Landings.  Do you know an exceptional high-school junior or senior who has volunteered more than 100 hours (not counting community service required by the applicant’s school) on volunteer programs where they have made a significant impact? Encourage them to apply for a Community Service Merit Award. In past years we have given cash awards between $500 and $3,000 for exceptional service. Applications can be found on the Landlovers website and are due NO LATER than March 14, 2023.
Skidaway Island First Responders is reminding all residents to fill out the Yellow Cards they provide and make it accessible to First Responders by putting it inside your refrigerator on the hinged door side. Yellow cards may be picked up at the TLA offices. This could help save your life.

Lastly, one more thank you to everyone who rang for and donated to the Salvation Red Kettle Campaign over the holidays. Through your generosity, we raised $5,066.98.

Hear about giant sloths, feathered serpents, mission massacres, and treasure-laden Spanish galleons. This history is anything but ‘dry’.

NEW!! Landlovers Singing Group
Do you love to sing and harmonize in a group with other singers? Landlovers invites you to be part of a new, co-ed singing group. We hope to attract a small group of singers who share a love of a cappella singing to create a unique sound in 4 part vocal harmony. We would sing arrangements from classic American hits to contemporary pop tunes to bring the joy of singing to our local audiences.

We are trying to gauge interest in this potential opportunity. Please reach out to Eileen Yost at [email protected] if interested.
