Landings Landlovers
Enriching the Community We Love
|
|
Happy New Year! Landlovers finished the year with a busy December. Bell ringers, organized by Tim Forbes (who filled the schedule in record time), rang for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign again this year. Thanks to everyone who volunteered to ring and to those who stopped by to donate. Karen Duncan and Jane Golz organized a festive and fun Holiday Golf cart parade. We were serenaded by the newly formed Landlovers Lovelies choral group, collected toys for the Marines “Toys for Tots” program, decorated and lit our Landings Palm Tree, visited with Santa, enjoyed food from food trucks and hot chocolate served by Landlovers. This was the first Landlovers planned community event and it will surely become one of our new traditions. Kathy Collura and Milli Sample ordered a perfect night for a Campfire evening at Skidaway State Park Pavilion. The storyteller, Bourbon Boys musicians, and food were all wonderful, but mostly we enjoyed spending time with new and old friends. It was a magical evening and a perfect way to ring in the Holidays.
2023 promises to be another busy year. January begins our fund-raising season.
-
We hope you’ll join us for our first fundraiser of the year, Games Day on Friday, January 20th. Get your tables together for a day of fun and games to benefit the Landlovers Foundation. Raffle tickets are now on sale for our 50/50 and grand prize raffles. Anyone can buy tickets – you don’t need to be present to win. Buy tickets to win the 50/50 raffle, a Marshwood dinner, Gold Literati Tickets to the Book Festival, or 4 rounds of golf. Details listed below.
- Don’t forget to save your gently used stuff for the Flea Market and Auctionmania. Intake is March 4, 5, 6 at the TLA parking lot.
- Our first social event of the year is our very popular Wine Tasting & Food Pairing evening on Tuesday, February 7 at Marshwood Club. Read the newsletter for more information and to sign up.
Board activities ramp up in January as we begin the process of nominating a new board. Want to get involved? Contact me at Landloverspres@gmail.com. In February and March, we receive requests for Grants, Scholarship, and Community Service Merit Awards. Information for how to apply along with applications will be posted on our website in early January. Philanthropy that enriches our community is the cornerstone of Landlovers. Any suggestions for non-profit organizations we might support let us know at landloverspres@gmail.com.
On behalf of the Landlovers Board I’d like to wish you all a Happy and Healthy New Year. Looking forward to seeing you all in 2023!
Chris Lanigan
