Enriching the Community We Love

President's Message
Landlovers fundraising season kicked off with Games Day on January 20th. Just over 100 people participated in a day of fun and games. Thanks to our Ways and Means Directors, Jane Golz and Laurie Etherington, and our Games Day Co-Chairs Jody Freeman and Janice Lo Sasso and their committee for organizing this event. Between ticket sales and raffles we raised just over $4,500 for the Landlovers Foundation.

Next up is Flea Market/Auctionmania Intake Days March 4, 5, & 6. Don’t forget to donate your gently used stuff and remember that any unique and hi-value items will be saved for Auctionmania. If you haven’t been to intake before, it is a well organized bevy of activity. Volunteers off-load your car and take the donated items to the appropriate location for pricing and packing. It is amazing to see 100’s of volunteers working together to support the community. Thank you to everyone who has already volunteered. There is still time if you want to get involved. Contact [email protected] to volunteer.

Flea Market Sale Day is March 11 in the Messiah Lutheran Church parking lot. The line starts early for those wanting to find the best bargains. Auctionmania follows on Tuesday, March 14 from 5–7 pm in the Palmetto Ballroom. All Residents are welcome to attend and join in the on-line bidding for unique treasures. All proceeds from these events benefit the Landlovers Foundation. Through your hard work and generosity Landlovers has given out over $1.7 million in grants, scholarships, and merit awards.

In addition to fundraising, we find time for fun. Our Winter Social transported us to Portugal for a Wine Tasting and Food Pairing event. Thanks to our Co-Chairs Laura Gebele, Holly Taylor, and Nealy Madsen who worked closely with Chef Sam to create a Portuguese menu of small plates accompanied by an eclectic assortment of wines. The food and wine were delicious and everyone had a great time at this popular event.

It's a busy time of the year that culminates in May when we award our grants, scholarships, and merit awards. We’re looking forward to a successful fundraising season!
Flea Market Pre-Intake
A special thanks to Mark Witbeck and his team of guys with trucks and muscles who have already made over 50 trips to pick up items donated to the Flea Market and Auctionmania. It’s not just furniture items they’ve procured. Mark worked with one very generous resident who donated this Stingray car. The car was sold at auction generating several thousand dollars for the Landlovers Foundation. A special thanks to our Donor. If any of you have cars, boats, motorcycles, or campers you’d like to donate contact Mark at [email protected].
