President's Message
We have the best volunteer team on the island – over 600 of you participated in Flea Market/Auctionmania Intake for 3 days, Flea Market Sale Day, and Auctionmania’s Silent Online Auction. Some of you did all 3! With smiles on your faces, everyone worked together to get the job done. Helping lift a heavy box, pack a POD, unpack boxes, unload cars, like magic worker bees appeared to help. It was amazing to see – thank you all! You are what makes these events gratifying to be part of. A special thanks to our Ways & Means Directors Jane Golz and Laurie Etherington, our Flea Market Executive Team, Tim Forbes (their fearless leader), Mark Witbeck, Rib Rubin, Pat Dalbey, Noreen Powell, Jane Golz, Laurie Etherington, Julia Harrell, and Michelle Simari and our Auctionmania Co-Chairs Cindy Altman and Beverly Cox. Thank you to all island residents who generously donated their “stuff”. Proceeds from these events benefit the Landlovers Foundation which since inception has given out over $1.7 million in grants, scholarships, and merit awards .

Flea Market sale day was bright and sunny. Volunteers arrived by 6:30 and attendees started lining up early. When the market opened at 9 am the line to get in stretched out onto Shellwind. Over 1,000 people rushed in in the first 20 minutes - with our biggest crowd ever recorded - over 2,300 happy shoppers. We’re still finalizing the numbers, but we anticipate beating last year’s revenue.

Auctionmania was another fun night. People gathered to view the auction items, socialize with their friends, and then Bid High and Bid Often on their favorite items. The bidding frenzy peaked just before 7pm when the auction closed. Another successful night of fun and fundraising!

Philanthropy is the board’s focus over the next 30 days. We will be awarding grants, scholarships, and merit awards that support the continual improvement of community life and the residents of Skidaway Island. It is our privilege to help. We’ll announce our 2023 awardees the end of April.

Our spring golf scramble is on May 21 and then our year ends with a celebration on Tuesday, May 23. Location still a secret, but I can tell you it will be a memorable evening. Keep reading below for more details and to sign-up. Hope to see you there.

Chris Lanigan

Landlovers Closing Celebration
DINNER IN WHITE - Tues, May 23rd, 6:30-9:45 pm
Say “au revoir” to the Landlovers year and “bon jour” to the next year’s board at the Closing Celebration—a French-themed gourmet picnic. To add a little intrigue, the location for our picnic is a secret until a few days before May 23. (Hint: it isn’t far away!)

Although it’s a picnic, the cocktail hour will be “tres chic” with French-inspired hors de’ oeuvres, champagne and cocktails. When it’s time for dinner, voila! you’ll be seated outdoors at a table with a view, white linens and candlelight. Enjoy the French cheese and charcuterie appetizer, followed by a picnic box with tastings of tuna niçoise, crab Louie, chicken salad, filet mignon and asparagus vinaigrette, accompanied by baguettes and butter. Bon Appetit!

But non! That’s not all! You’ll be entertained by a live cabaret show while you enjoy your dessert, a macaron trio.
